Went to V.A. doc for issues with neck and spine, thought it was getting worse because I was having trouble with my hip hurting and pain going down my leg and up my back, kinda connecting to the pain I feel everyday from my injury, come to find out , it is WALLET SCIATICA! Its a real condition, somewhat serious! Doc told me, that since I'm skinny and have no cush on the tush, that my wallet (that is stuffed full of receipt's) pushes firmly against the nerves in that butt pocket area, that has no bone, next to the hip socket. It irritates the paraforma ligaments/tendons/muscles, jacking you up, can be so serious as to need lower back surgery to relieve the pressure! He said that a huge part of the population has this issue and doesn't realize how simple the fix!
The cure?
Switch pockets!:hmm3grin2orange:
and paraforma stretches:biggrinbounce2:
Already feel WAY better, just from not putting the wallet in the same pocket:laugh:

I stopped carrying a wallet 15 years ago for that reason. It's worse for someone who sits all day at work or drives long distances with the bulge in their back pocket. Since then I've been carrying cash, drivers license and two credit cards in my front pocket. Noticed a difference not long after I got rid of the wallet.

I have never heard that as a medically diagnosed condition...but I had it. I had a sore back in high school and beyond. I started putting the wallet in my front pocket sometime before I turned 30 and it certainly helped my back feel better than it was.

I had something similar in the celtic tiger years,I'm ok now cos me wallet doesn't bulge;)
Joking aside, glad you got a quick diagnosis and relief;)

Did the same 15 years ago for the same reason.
Never looked back.

Nothing like a 440 bolt of sciatica shooting down to the ankle
at 4 in the morning. Man, that'd bring you awake in a cold sweat fast.
Can still remember in great detail how that felt.

I've been carying my wallet in my front pocket for several years now for that same reason. Of course if I can get away with leaving it somewhere else, I will.

I carry my wallet, phone and rod in a European shoulder pack, basically a purse for guys. I've been using one since way before they were "cool." I never could stand a wallet poking my butt or jarring my b!@@s every time I sat down. Glad to hear I avoided at least one physical malady brought on by an external irritant. I know all too well how the trees take their toll on me, daily.

Cargo Pants

Another way to avoid sitting on your wallet is to wear cargo pants. With the side pockets, you can carry your wallet where it is handier to reach, too. Those who used to wear camo fatigues or BDUs know what I'm talking about.

Sounds like all you rich owners of tree comapnies are keeping too big of a stack of bills in your back pocket. Just kidding, Glad you are feeling better.... Mike

I have stacks of receipts! wish it was cash!

Thanks all fur yur faithful support and advice while I deal with my butt, its been a real pain in the.........................

I never had my issues diagnosed but I'm pretty sure it was something similar. When driving long distances my right shoulder felt as if someone had a K-Bar shoved under my shoulder blade. Someone told me to remove my wallet while driving and that was the end of that. It's not limited to skinny folks with no rig in back either, I can assure you that. Got plenty of junk in my trunk.

What kind of strecthes are you talking about? Pics?

I come from land where one does not carry his wallet in his back pocket.

Para forma stretches, we do it in Judo, im not gonna post a pic of me doing it, could only imagine the hell i would catch!

picture this, laying face down, take your right leg and slide it to your left, up under your torso, as you would be laying on your knee, with your leg bent, lay down on your knee, keeping your left leg straight as a arrow, as you apply pressure downwards, you will feel the pull in your butt/ hip area, very good for you. Its a weird stretch that is mainly seen in the Judo arena, their are a couple more that help as well. Maybe I will go to gym, in matt room , have kid do stretches as I take pics, then you all will know some good ones. OCS at Qauntico has implemented these into their training, SGT MAJ seen me doing them before I was gonna beat up some MCMAP black belts!
Don't know if i am spelling para forma right, but it is a huge area that is often not attended to. I, my self, have gotten away from doing them so much, as my injury's keep me from attending Judo myself, I mainly just teach, but gonna change that soon, it kills me going in their and not being able to roll.
I GOT IT! gonna make a video called "ARBOR FIT"
Going to use all da fighter's for da video, who wants one.
I'll wear leotard's and my harness!!
