I'm looking for a competition legal axe for throwing. I checked Bailey's and couldn't find anything. I figure since I'm going to do the saw thing I might as well throw an axe too. It beats spectating. Thanks.

My get together include tomhawk and double bit axe throws. We do single bit just for fun and something different. I just take a TSC bought axe and trim the handle to your liking. I think it was a min 24" handle. So if you get factory 36" axe you can fit it to your needs for $20. Small targets for tomahawks, Big red for axes. http://www.arboristsite.com/attachment_25933.php

Tsc

I believe he is referring to Tractor Supply Company which is a fleet/farmer's supply store.

The problem with those axes, is that for serious competition, they're not allowed. a TSC bought axe, would be allowed in a throwing competition, as much as a howitzer at a rifle range.

I was just trying to show them how to make a $20 double bit axe 3 1/2 lb for throwing in the backyard or local get togethers. Before putting $150 into it and finding out they dont care for it. Axe specs http://www.cila-online.org/webpages/events/axethrow.htm

Most of the best axe throwers I know throw stock or modified store-bought double bits. The rules are 6 inch bit max, 2-1/2 lb head min and 24 inch handle min. That doesn't mean it has to say tuitahi, gransfors or any thing else on it.

Thanks alot guys I appreciate the help and now I'm less likely to get screwed when I go to buy or build one. I oughta make one to get to know the sport first.
