I kept a window/siding caller on the phone for almost an hour one night. My wife kept yelling hang up. The sales person kept going on about how good a deal it was, I kept agreeing. Finally he asked if he could put his manager on to set up an appointment for an estimate. The manager got on and went over all the good stuff. Then he asked for a good time to come out, and I said I wasn't interested. He said why not, you acted like it was a good deal. I said yeah, it sounds like a good deal, but I just had an addition put on and got all new windows and siding, so I don't need it. Then he asked why I stayed on the line so long if I didn't need it? I said he had just ruined my dinner, so I figured the longer I kept him on the line, I was saving someone else's dinner. Dang, he hung up on me, Joe.

Love it!

One time I had a water filter salesman call me. I told him to hold because I had something on the stove. I laid the phone down and made me a sandwich. I figured by that time he would have hung up, but no, he was still hanging on. So I told him to hold on for one more minute and he said ok. I ate my sandwich and took the plate to the sink. went back to the phone and he was still hanging on. I asked him if he was really that stupid, I must of kept him on hold for 30 min and he didnt have a clue.

that's number spoofing... I've had my fair share of calls come up with a local residential number, land or cell, and turn out to be telemarketers. the worst part is that it comes up with all the number owners caller ID info, name, number, and city of origin. that has to be illegal to use someone else's number to mask your telemarketing call

I get more than my share of calls from "Rachel at card Holder services". What I have started doing is hanging up and calling the number right back. When the owner of the number answers, I tell them my name and say I know you probably didnt call me but, Your number has been spoofed by spammers and to report it to your phone company so they can do something about it. I know from talking to Verizon and blocking many local numbers that have been spoofed, they cant seem to stop the spoofers, but they sure will let you put a block on a number that is being used for spam. I have also talked to the State AG office about Rachel and card holder services. It seems they cant find anybody to charge. I have tried every way I can think of to contact them and even if you hold for one of their agents, as soon as you mention anything about not calling, taking off call list, ect, they hangup. All I can say is they better hope I dont ever find their office head quarters is located, because I might turn a perfectly good building into a pile of rubble.

Also wanted to add, Verizon and probably every other phone company out there will share your number to third parties. You can specificly request that they dont share your number to third parties and they have to comply. Its a damn shame you have to call your phone company and request that they dont give out your number to other third party users, I would think they should have to ask me before giving out my number.

Lot of times here it comes up as local, Wisconsin, or unlisted, generally in the 414,262,920 area codes. Problem is that with people moving around the country with their cell phones which they got are still running on whatever area code & number from wherever. No reason to change cell to cell as its not long distance but it is if calling back on a land line. Same with the junk calls they just buy a lot of numbers in the cell phone segment for close by area codes - do a mass broadcast to those cell phone # that is then relayed through the cell system. Ought to be illegal- all the cell and land line companies make a ton money off these junk calls so it isn't going to go away anytime soon. The problem is these unsolicited calls burn your minutes unless you are on and unlimited plan if you just go ahead and answer them.

Yea had a bad streak of spam calls that were spoofing area code and even the next 3 prefix numbers then a random last 4. Had one guy in my contacts called n i missed it. Called him back n he said he had same thing going on for a couple weeks. Then boom.....it quit.

Had a few numbers from Cali I called back n they said someone hacked their phone number. Sucks cause I gotta answer my phone all day.

The weird thing is they seem to know where you've been.

My wife went to Texas (was staying with friends and didn't give out her number to anyone). A few days after she got home all of the spam changed from our local area code to Texas based numbers.

Thats google or apple that does that then... they track you 24/7. my phone asks me to review every place i stop at, even if i stop at an intersection waiting on traffic to clear. "Post a review of your visit to Casey's General Store". You idiots!!! I was half a block away plowing snow!!!!!!:mad::mad::mad::fuckyou::fuckyou::fuckyou::fuckyou::fuckyou:

Wow, our smileys options includes a little yellow dude giving the middle finger but the sites profanity filter wont let us use it..... makes perfect sense

I've been getting junk calls.. Goes to the effect of:

"Heyyyyyyy how's it going?
This is Henry and I just wanted to get back with you about the paperwork I had dropped off to you and we were looking at"

The first time I heard the voicemail I was wondering... uh, who is this? I've had customers from several years back call or swing by and act like I just talked to them the day before so I thought maybe it was something like that.

But then he goes into a script about how I can get up to $400k for "operating expenses" at crazy low interest :nofunny:

Pretty sure if I was needing to borrow that kind of money I'd go see a bank and not deal with a random telemarketer! The ones I get in the mail are usually 25-40% interest in the small print! :surprised3::eek:

400k at 30% over 5 years would end up costing a person about $775k

Those are the only 2 that I saved. I had another one wanting to arrange shipping to Mexico and another that came from my website asking the price (which are all on the website). I'm not going to waste my time with them, but just curious what the motive is.
I got some weird phones calls to my cell phone like that. As soon as I posted an ad to sell my car on Kijiji they started.
It sounded like a call center in the background and talking in a foreign accent, asking all the questions that the ad states too.
Makes me so mad that people will actually talk directly to you and are basically saying that they will steal and rob you of your possessions.
If they were in front of me I'd flatten them.
