Well i got very few good comments on this saw but i went with the stihl ms290 for 350$. This saw is just what i needed, the weight isnt too bad either. I got the 18" bar. After it breaks in and i get use to it it will be just fine. I turned the oil up a bit cause it wasn't oiling to my taste, but that was the only thing that needed tweaking. It blows my old poulan away in terms of quality and feel. I think this is perfect for serious homeowner and would reccomend it. Now for a note on hte dealer, he asked if i was using stihl oil, i said i was using husqvarna oil, he said when i ran out to switch to stihl oil cause if i ever need warranty work they could test the fuel and see if it is stihl oil or not, and maybe deny the warranty claim. Now i know this guy is full of hog crap, cause another dealer told me husky oil is fine and that husky and stihl oil is from the same factory(so he said), so this comment raised a red flag about this dealer, but everything else seems fine about him. So any comments on this?? Or comments about this saw??

You received the operators manual with the saw right? Read in there in the fuel chapter and it states that you need to use stihl two-stroke engine oil or EQUIVALENT BRANDED TWO-STROKE AIRCOOLED ENGINE OILS WITH THE CLASSIFICATION TC FOR MIXING. So unless he wants to give you the stihl oil I think he's full of it.

Saw

Snapper,
Glad to here that you found a saw.I suspect that you went over your limit. As far as bar oil goes use what you think is best.I will assume that you did not care for the 028 that I mentioned.Keep the chips a flying Ken

In the US we still have no other "standard" for aircooled engines besides TC. Husky oil says on the package that it meets the Japanese Jaso-FC and the proposed European ISO-LEGD standards-Both require higher quality than the US minimum. Stihl black bottle oil is labeled for ISO LEGD. The regular Stihl oil carries no designation. Which oil meets warranty requirements? ALL 2-cycle oils! Which oil is better for your saw's longevity? Probably the JASO-FC/ISO-LG labeled stuff.

Congratulations on your new saw!

Stihl seems to be real shady with warranty work anyways. That's why I switched to Husky's and haven't looked back. Ever.
