Local arborist shows up today with 9 chainsaws for me to go through.

Husq 455 Rancher: leaking fuel cap. Wont turn over, look to push the decomp and find a huge bolt welded into what used to be a decomp hole. Bolts way too long. Piston stop and probably cracked in half as he was trying to pull start it as hard as he could in front of me. God knows what else i find.

Husq 55: both caps leaking, blowing fuel out the air filter. compression reads 10 after 9 pulls. Pull exhaust, zero rings & scored everything else.

Husq 350: "the trigger dont work". Must be connected to the carb, ya get better results that way. Fixed and ready to go.

Husq Something Top Handle: " i dont know whats wrong, it just dont work and the exhaust cover needs fixin" he made one im out of ducktape for now but still no start.

Tomorrow he's bringing an MS361, MS391, MS200T and another Stihl and some Echo top handle.

Meanwhile ive got a 262 torn down and building back up, and a 390 swap top going in tonight.

Do arborist usually toss their saws to the ground after the decide to call it a day?? Thats what these all look like. Screws missing everywhere. I gotta go buy more locktight to get thru these. Never been cleaned once. That crap irks me. Boy what a bill he's gonna get.

Cant wait to see whats wrong with all the rest!

@Duke Thieroff, you better be ready for a gigantic order come next week and another after that lol

They just get worked real hard, but still need to be maintained.....my 355T didn't last a year before it was all busted up and no longer worth messing with.

These were beyond work saws, they were trashed like they were thrown around and never once serviced

I had a tree service trim my four Oaks a couple of years ago. His Stihl saws were obviously well used, but they started the first pull and ran great. All depends on the attitude of the owner. If his employees don't care about their gear he has the option of getting rid of them.

The bolt welded in the decomp hole is unbelievable.

Once torn down i will get a pic of it for ya. Its a grade 8.8 bolt and the head it just under the size of a quarter. Guess he tried to heli-coil it and drill bigger but helicoils arent the best under compressed parts, they leave opening. Thats probably why that smart machanic know a railroad spike would be the perfect "hole filler upper" i dont even know how he turned it in there. I gotta call the guy tomorrow after teardown and since he says money dont matter, i want my ms290 i lent him to finish a job and if that thing has so much as a crack in the plastic, you'll see many a Husqs in the tradin post. The one with the railroad spike actually improves performance! Its true! Go ahead, see for yourself!! Lol

I didn't mean to sound like I was doubting you, I meant it was unbelievable anyone could be so stupid.

most the boys I've met who work full time with chainsaws know basics only, anything past taking off the clutch cover, changing chain and cleaning airfilter is beyond a lot of people
