well i dont,frank.. its a given that these guys know much more than the average user of chainsaws.. but i wont go to corruption to get the golden knowledge.[this knowledge will turn out to be maggots,in my opinion..] .. which is what i think some here are willing to do..
the judging job is already taken. but
for me..im gonna keep what i consider total corruption as far from me as i can..

so brothers im gonna leave it this way.. god help u.. if u have gotton this old and not learned the simple basic truths,of life..
id advise anyone reading this to use your own judgement.. but in the end the truth is stronger than the lie , everytime..this is my evaluation of the subject..enuff said .. ive come too close to judging people already.. besides theres always the atonement, so theres hope for anybody..
:)

Macman; what would you crown the king/ Max horsepower or max torque. I agree that the dyno thing is a lot fairer than trying the saws in the wood. Just eliminates so many variables.

Well like a top fuel dragster, screw the torque I want horse power! realy it should be a average of both say you have two saws one has 10 hp and 9 ftlbs and the other saw has 10 hp and 8 ftlbs the one with the best average should win now all we need is a dyno

and u are not putting me dn bud..
u aint able to do that.. i dont think anyway.. but ill stay away from a dangerouse situation..
ran into this same thing with the bulldogs .. i found that its better not to get involved, with something that aint got a chance of producing good...
it just dont come from that source..
frank ,,u can come give me lessons anytime.. u welcome here.. but id be careful the price u pay for knowledge.... again jmo

MAcman what you just said is not wanted here. Perhaps you want to wind up like your friends?

Macman,

I like honesty too, but please consider the context of the things that Tony is saying.

I take his posts in this thread to say that he`s very impressed with his 372 and would like to see how it stacks up with anyone elses, maybe even offer a friendly wager on the outcome. To be honest, I asked Tony to back off on this issue because it perpetuates some of the ugliness that we have had to deal with lately. He isn`t running his mouth and then running away when asked to back it up.

I also took his statement that you probably couldn`t put him down to mean that he isn`t sucked in and then embroiled in back biting and put downs. I can`t recall Tony ever being a problem on any forum where I`ve associated with him.

FWIW, I think that your idea to have a neutral person run the saws is very cool. It largely eliminates user skill as a variable.

Take care,

Russ

I dont remember whether Fish was a Husky or Stihl man, but hes a good old boy; judge anything from a horse race to a wet tee shirt contest. If you could get him, he'd be da man!

Gotta agree with Crofter, Lucky, &

Jokers. Yes, Tony is proud of his saw, but he isn't slamming other people's saws.

I don't have anything against modded saws, either woods or racing. If people want to post about their modded saws & their races, fine.

But does any of this rhetoric is sound familiar? Too familiar?
"My saw's faster than your saw, & I can prove it."
"My chains are faster than your chains, & I can prove it."
"Well, maybe you won, but everyone knows that you cheated."
"Well, maybe you didn't cheat, but everyone knows that you aren't running one of your own chains."
"Well, maybe that is one your chains, but everyone knows that (whoever) taught you how to file like that."
"Well, maybe your saw is faster, but everyone knows that your saw builder steals ideas from my saw builder."
And on, and on, and on.

Quote: by Crofter "I dont think it would be fun being neutered!"

Especially with a stock372 and a round filed chain, EH!

well tony just keep the chisel sharp and maybe someday we can race for fun, Happy Turkey Day. Macman

This could be a great test if done by neutral ( not nuterd, on the other hand.......) person. No personal feelings, and the same skills on two saws, sounds great.

Tony: You have some golden words there. Take care now.

well i think i can endorse test..
using an saw from any builder who wanted to enter an saw ..
same could be done with chains
the results would be interesting...
but i aint sending my worksaw no where..like i said ..
for me ,who would be fine with just an good 028[luv that saw].
to have a saw that performs like this ...well it aint likely, id get that lucky again,
should i somehow lose it.. so it stays in my hands..
my issue in this ,is not saws ..its the fact that it seems that it ought to be alrite to endorse an recommend good work .. theres any number of people, capable of really making an worksaw,,
do its job better,on this site.. from what ive read ..ed seems to have the edge [today]... for that i give him credit..in fact i told him so..
but that doesnt nullify what others can do..also if a man does good work for me im gonna pass the wd along..
id like to see an well managed test done by this forums managers ..
but to see the best ugly saw in nc ,,u just gonna have to come here..heck id love to have a visit from any one of u..
ill reaffirm one thing tho.. to any who care to listen.. be careful how much u willing to compromise uself to get that gold..

personally if the forum chose fish to conduct these test..that be a good choice ,i think..heck ive always got good info from him on diagnosing problems ,,posted here. wish he did it more..jmo

Knot Whole, that describes a lot of people who get into competition. It becomes their whole reason for being and their focus is only on defeating others. Whatever it takes to win is acceptable. Like politics, character assassination is one of the first tools grabbed. That kind of dedication guarantees collecting a lot of knowledgede and skill, but is it all good?
Staging a competion would stir up more than settle. As you point out the grumbling and posturing would all start again. Its not all bad though either. Its a good study of mechanical principles and human personalities. I'nnit fun!

I think what we have to do first is to define the word "chainsaw", and define the word "work".
A chainsaw is something that cuts woods, not something that sits on a shelf and is bragged about.
Work is something that the chainsaw does. A Greffardized 2171 that cuts wood in a professional manner on a regular basis is much superior to a PP 372 that that visits the woodpile occasionaly and vis versa.
Just by virtue of having the tool and moutheing the words does not a professional make.
Just as having a pipe wrench hanging in my garage doesn't make me a plumber, having a KD 385 doesn't make one a logger.
However, if postureing and mere ownership makes one feel like puss' n boots', than knock yourself out. There will always be some circle where the uninitiated will believe we are the Guru.
So untill one is actually found out or exposed, just have fun. Tell them lies, feed them candy.
John
