I don't think so. I think it's about who has the fastest saws and I don't see anything wrong with that. If fun is had.........it's a plus for sure.....but saw racing is saw racing and if you are just in it for the fun then you are going to get your butt kicked....and why wouldn't you?

Ain't that the truth about racing. John has hit it on the head, I have a several pipe wrenchs in my shop and I am no plumber. There's tons of saws in there and I am no Logger but there are tons of good times. Isn't thats what it's all about. I would have never meet some of you guys if it wasn't for the chainsaw. In time we all find things out about ourselves and others.
One thing I found out is I have the fastest Solo 680, 346xp and 2100. Of course that's in my own race arena. The one thing about all these saw debates is it's all about having fun and with the internet at no cost.

Hoffman for a guy all about having fun when are you going to be marketing your modded saws? From what I hear they are fast.

uh oh. if theys one thing ive learned about mark ..its that,, if he wants one o u saws..come heck or high water ,,hes gonna get it..:)

Who said I was racing saws???

My technique leaves alot to be desired.

So for me it is for fun, everyone is different!

Mark, I won't be. I couldn't build a saw to beat anyone on here if my life depended on it.

Even if I wanted to build saws the time isn't there. Having a family of 4 and working 55 - 60 hours a week between 2 jobs doesn't leave a whole lot of time for anything else.

Rich I know you have the talent to do it. Heck once I start my small engine repair class this winter I should be able to adjust my own carbs now.:) You would be amazed what you can accomplish if you dedicate 15 minutes a day to something you enjoy. Of course my dedication runs in several hour incriments and I leave everything to the wayside.
Gobble Gobble

I heard many positive comments about a little (35 cc I think ) saw that Rich ported and am sure he could turn out high quality work. The problem I think is he doesnt' want to go though the shredder that A/S has become. You know, one or two guys get a saw from a builder then some jack a$$ starts badmouthing said builder because he didn't invent the chainsaw, then he's a pariah.

Thanx for the positive words Mark and Paul. Saw building may be in the future but not now.

Paul you bring up another very good point in the above statement. I talk to alot of AS members and have met a few of them. I believe my credibility has earned the respect of the aforementioned members. But in all someone will call that into question when/if I were to start building saws. This "credibility" that I mention can't be overstated in my eyes, it is that important to me. I have a long way to go and have only begun to scratch the surface of what is involved to become a good and knowledgeable saw builder.

AS has become a "shredder"...........good, well worded observation!

A internet BB can indeed be a very unforgiving place. The fact remains however that if you are above reproach no one can say a thing. Certain builders here have gotten raked accross the coals, but to saw that they where totaly undeserving would be a stretch.

Yeah, this was old Dennis again. This was from the early days. Registered Feb 2003. His IP matched Joe Lamb. GOODBYE AGAIN!!!
This is crap.

Dennis has always had questionable friends as far as this forum is concerned, but he's been an alright guy himself. He's even been actually helpful of late.

You moderators/admins need to re-evaluate your stance on banning in this case.

Well like a top fuel dragster, screw the torque I want horse power! realy it should be a average of both say you have two saws one has 10 hp and 9 ftlbs and the other saw has 10 hp and 8 ftlbs the one with the best average should win now all we need is a dyno
I know this "conflict" has been "settled" already and I'm not singling out anybody in this post but this quote was a good point to enter the thread after several days away from a computer.

Horsepower is purely a function of torque. Without torque there is no horsepower since in regard to an engine it's nothing more than torque over time.

What you guys are really talking about is "where in the RPM range does the torque get made the best?".

This isn`t my call Glen, maybe netree or DDM are able to ban.

I say that we should have kept him for a sparring partner, LOL!

Evaluate the Moderators?? I feel we do. Last week we had a banning and I am not talking about Dennis Cahoon. Now some are moderators, go figure. Maybe John Lambert should be moderator of the Tree Climbing Forum. Russ has done a great job of running the hen house. Why the change?
Sure there are some members that constantly report people here on a regular basis. Why it's beyond me. Just because people don't see eye to eye doesn't mean an exiling has to take place. This is an open forum and we all have to understand that. If some members don't like what someone says does that mean they have to go.
I undoubtly placed the last nail in my own coffin with this post.

Maybe the peaple that complain should have to go public with their complaint and they should have to be able to justify their complaint And I know that some peaple dont like me on this site and thats ok just ignore me and I will ignore you and it will all be fine I have NOT complained about one person to the moderator because if cant handle the heat I will go somewhere else I also know that if all of us were to meet in pearson we would all get along just because I like Mac's doesnt meen I dont like guys that like Stihls And if we race and you win I will shake your hand and when your not looking I will go study your chain LOL
