ive been moving up in the world and am thinking of suplimenting my silky with a top-handle saw for when im dangling around.

the 192t isnt available in the u.k and prices here for stihl saws are stupidly high, so im thinking use one of the ebay shops that import U.S saws here.

but i want to get a rough idea of what these saws cost for you guys across the water. any rough price range would be most helpfull, many thanks in advance

The ms200t had about a $45 to $50 price increase for 2007.
It's now close to $550.00 in my area. I think that is almost or at list price.

The 192T in Virginia lists for 299.95, went up from 279.95 abit ago.

non-CE approved equipment

your probably aware of this, but anyway if you ever accidently had an accident using a top handled saw HSE will be all over you like a rash, i assume that if your using a top handled saw you hold cs38-39 NPTC qualifications. You cant technically buy one of these saws from a licensed dealer without this qualification, also if you import it from the states it will not have the CE approval and therefore is not legal for use in the UK.

sorry but thats how it is, dont you love the legislation :bang: :bang: :bang:

200T is about $500-$550 if I remember correctly.

192, don't recall at all.
I guess if I take the dollar diff into account we pay the same. How much is a 441 in your area as that is the last stihl I priced out.Sorry I stole your thread! But I have to ask what a 441 cost's in the U.S.
Dam that is a good title fishhuntcutwood is there anything left to do? except work on truck!

The 192 was $339 last time I looked at one here. Got my 200T for $530 two years ago. I paid less than that for my 036 back in 1992 but then again that doesn't count for inflation. Don't regret the cost of either saw and they've both paid for themselves many times over.

On a related note I hear that some of the 4.2 million cameras they have watching people in the U.K. are going to be able to speak, thats right, bark orders at people for "anti social behaviour". And now this crap, can you say "police state"?

yep this is true, but only on a few really problem sites! it wont be long before its everywhere though.

cheers for the price info U.S peoples...

and charlie, thanks for pointing out the obvious C.E mark eurobollocks infringements i would be perpetrating by importing a U.S saw.

I wouldnt recommend the practice to professional tree workers in the public domain because of the legal implications, but i would be using it for mainly hedging and only an occasional bit of ariel work (bit of a hobby more than a job), far away from the general public, and even further from the HSE...

and austin1 if you want a real bargain on a 441 come to europe... only £600 or a steal at $1202...

gotta love it

No thanks! With the dollar difference they are a little cheaper in the U.S But I found a big difference in the dealers I went to some wanted why to much and some were priced like a comparable husky.

I still havent worked out what is to stop you putting a set of EU decals on an imported saw anyway as the IPL's for most saws are the same for EU and America, only real difference is exhausts and i cant really see the HSE taking serial numbers of saws to see where they were sent from the factory.

It seems amazing that we can make a saw in europe ship it to the states sell it cheap on the internet only to be shipped back to europe for cheaper than we can get them in our own countries:confused:
