The Vortex V-12 chipper by DYNA Products works GREAT for Palm Fronds, stringy fibrous material and hardwood trees and brush. It uses patented anti-clogging technology with an extremely WIDE in-feed with a pocket-less drum that deposits the chips into a patented vortex that then blows them like a disc chipper. See more on www.dyna-products.com or www.vortexeq.com. See the attached video chipping Palm Fronds.
Hey, it STARTS at $65,000. Now let's hear about a much SLOWER machine selling for one-tenth that amount.

Some of what i heard on Facebook is that they are actually a decent company and make a good product, but it looks gimmicky to me

Now, that drum design sorta reminds me of a horizontal grinder, those use raw power instead of momentum to cut, but on a 12" chipper you would need atleast 250hp to even think about chipping anything hard this way, even my 115hp cummins struggles sometimes, small bites and let the disk do ALL the work unless im chipping 5" pine or poplar, and my machine runs a properly anvil/knives setup that cuts very efficiently

I don't claim to be any kind of engineer, these Vortex chippers seemed to be designed somewhat after the forage harvesters that they use in the ag industry to process forage for livestock.

Forage harvesters are running WAY higher horsepower and cutting fibrous material (grass, hay, corn stalks).
Woody products take alot more power to cut than fibrous stuff would be my opinion.

I've never used one, but I want to demo one sometime soon and see what they actually can do.

They sure have some nice claims!
