Awesome looking project Lee . Just a heads up, looks like this carb/airbox chamber is a 1020/1050 type.

Sure you'll locate the correct one with no problems. Can't wait to see it all go together.

Let's see what the difference is between these two parts.

A couple differences are that the XP1020 has a hole in the floor of the air box for the idle fuel line and an idle screw hole forward of the high and low screw holes on the side of the box.

Congratulations Lee . Knew you'd find one. Yea, the reed opening is the big difference. You can live with some plugs for an unused opening, but you can't make the 6 reed pyramid fit in the XP/1050 type opening (well maybe if you cut it a bit you could). A few more differences are a mounting boss for two bolts to hold the rear carb brace (not on the 2000, but on the Super 2000 later) and cutouts for two bolts to hold the decomp mounting.

Well, I ran into another hickup. With all the parts
i got, I got a 3/4 clutch spider but 7/8 shoes. I can't
seem to find 3/4 shoes at the moment so i thought
why not make it the big clutch saw. Went to put the
clutch on and the 7/8 clutch assembly uses a longer
crank. Although it's not in my IPL. So i still wanted to
make it work. Look closely at the picks. The top spider
is the 3/4. The two lower pic's are 7/8. The one on the
left i machined the center so it will give me enough
thread for the nut.

Made some more progress tonight.
It's sure nice assembling brand new parts.
I was waiting to install the carb thinking i
had to rebuild it. Nope brand new. I had to
give the new intake manifold a very nice blast
as it had a tiny bit of oxidation. The outer muffler
cover also got a repait do to many years of shelf
wear. So far it's looking pretty good.

Thanks guys, This one has been fun and somewhat
easy. Nothing to clean, bead Blast, or Paint. Just had
to find a few missing pieces.
This one won't see gas, at least for now. I have many
more i can run so no need to run this one.

Nice !

Installed the rest of the muffler and guard.
Cylinder cover and bar cover. Man are these
saws large. Have wait for a couple small items,
Then it will be done.

What is the difference between the super and standard? Is it just thin rings:confused:

From what i have seen, All the Super 2100's have thin rings,
Rubber covering on the wrap handle bar and the large quite
muffler with the muffler guard to go with it. Some of the later
ones had a 7/8 inch clutch assembly.

My 2000 has all that you mentioned I believe except I think it has the wider rings. The decals are all gone to the point of not identifying it that way.

Serial number have any way of determining

On the 7/8" shoes, the original Super 2100 parts list shows only the 7/8" shoes. The Rev 1 print (as Bill just posted) shows it can come with either the 3/4" or 7/8". There's a service bulletin from April '73 that states that as of serial number 30871001, all the Super 2100s would be fitted with the 3/4" shoes, essentially doing away with the 7/8". There's no explanation why they were changing. Showed the "updated" part numbers for the crank, drum, spider, shoes, spring and clutch cover. Wonder if it was to save money, or if there was some failure or safety issue with the 7/8" clutch :confused2:.
