I've picked up a few more saws and a shop full chain and accessories.

The best/ worst thing I've learned about is MODIFIED SAWS!!!! I'm hooked! Sent off another one today today to Dean (066). shhhhh- don't tell my wife.:D

I bought my MS361 late last fall just before I joined this site. It only took a few weeks of reading threads to convince me of just how clever a fellow I am.  Of course using it just reinforces the point!

Joe

So did I, late 2004, but it was based on the reports on it, here at AS (I followed AS for more than a year, before joining).

It is not my fault that the 361 is so popular here......  :bang:

AS surely is to blame for the 372xpg.....

Eyestrain. Increased carpal tunnel. An absolute rage that I'm still on dialup. And the aquaintance of a group of very diverse and sometimes strange people that I've never met but still consider to be my friends.

Oh, yeah. All that.

Plus a big pile of oak, maple, and pecan boards that I might actually do something with one day.

Before joining this site just under 2 months back I had a 1968 Mac 10-10 with a blunt chain which I used occasionally.

Since then I have
- blown up the 10-10A
- restored a PowerMac 480 given to me in pieces.
- fixed a Homelite 480 given to me by my brother in a non-working state,
- bought a 076AV with a 30" bar (this is the only machine I have forked out cash for)
- made a small (24") Alaskan mill
- made a rig to handle short (up to 5ft long) wierd shaped logs,
- started fixing a not-working baby Stihl 010 given to me by a guy at work on the condition that he never sees it again.
- started work on a 36" Alaskan
- bored my colleagues stupid at work with talk about chainsaws.
- spent way too much time drooling at CS related stuff on line
- booked in for a CS saftey course next month
- had a great time and met some really help people on this site.

Cheers

Lucky acquisitions

I've scored a couple nice chainsaws and sent a couple back to the sellers!! Ebay can be misleading and I've learned to be real careful. You just have to read the fine print over and over. Overall, it's been a real great association with this website.

Quite an addiction! Look at the signature below.
I managed to get by with an ancient Clinton D-15 until I joined the site less than a year ago. Glad I did, that old saw was heavy and ornery. Don't know how a managed as long as I did, didn't know any better. It started with a great buy on an MS440 that I posted about here. I haven't stopped since. The bad part is I don't see any end in the not to distant future.:help:

I haven't bought anything new since coming here. I got my 361 just before joining to replace a 346xp that I burned up by playing with the carb to spite not knowing carb adjustment from Shinola. I now know it from Shinola, but Kiwi still gives me trouble. Amongst the pile of information I have attempted to retain, I learned how to fix the dead 346 and about ported saws. The new 361 found it's way to Big Dave fairly quickly thereafter. Now I am wanting a 7900 but it's back burner to a spray in bed liner for the truck and a decent wood shed.

And to prove it, this is Shinola.

The chance to meet the cool people here.

I got alot of good advice.
I also got some PPE, some Stihls and a Dolmar.
The worst thing I picked up here is the recurring urge for the next saw.
There is that ever present thought about getting the next saw(361):jawdrop: .
Thanks.
Mitch

I have gotten the MS360, MS460, and Lil Red Homelite since finding this cursed place!!!

Also modded my Mac and turned it into a little monster. Muffler modded all but the Homelite.
Timber Jack
Stihl Helmet
Chain Files of all sizes
Extra chains for all saws
Extra bars
A "need for a MS660"

Before & After AS

Before AS I had narrowed it down to just 3 saws. Gone were the assorted Super 2"s and a nice Poulan 3400. Now things have changed a bit. The after pictures show only the working saws that I am keeping. Most were recently involved in the infamous "6 trees - 14 saws" fun fest and none have been cleaned up for a photo op! The project saws and eBay sales saws are still cluttering the barn/shop!
It may indeed be a sickness/addiction........Bob

A couple of weeks ago I picked up a like new o41super for 100$ I am going to sell the 044 I bought of my neighbor[ the old guy wanted to give it to me] it too was like new I mean owners manual and case and used once or twice.
