I've hit nails,spikes,fence wire,staples,fence insulator, and bullets. Not the easiest thing on a chain. :D :(

Forgot this one. I believe it's an old clothesline hook buried in a red oak. Never found it til I planed the wood down to build a bed. It just exposed the metal on the last pass. Planer is still sharp.

Here in maple syrup country, I've run into a lot spiles (taps) in sugar maple. also the usual barb wire, nails & horse shoes. HATE THAT WHEN THAT HAPPENS

Bats Live in Nest?????

I did cut through a bats nest in a big soft maple ,rather odd, full of hybernating bats.

I thought they hung upside down in Caves :monkey:

Galvanized, steel Pipe in the center of a Silver leafed Maple about 36" DBH,
28" bar buried on the 460 mag when it was new and it stopped it cold,,,, I thought something broke????? and it did a cutter caught the inside of end of pipe,,,,,,, and just stopped it in its tracks,,,,, Upon further investigation
found the end of the pipe.............

1925 North Dakota license plate and a 1922 North Dakota license plate are probably the neatest things.

Also found a cedar arrow shaft with an old odsidian broadhead 8" below the bark to the end of the broken arrow piece. A home spun 2 or 3# sledge head you could still see the lathe marks in the rust the threaded handle was busted off. Elk horn tips about 5 foot up an old fir about 3" below bark. Found a bandsaw blade I think about 8" from the tip of the teeth to the back of the blade, Found it on the up hill cut while face cuttin a 28" alder. Also found a 20hardnose bar and chain in an old maple she was healed just enough so you couldn't see it any more with out looking very very close found that in an up hill cut also. Then just all the other stuff like rail spikes, fence, staples, bullets, nails, bird nests and that type stuff.

An old Iron flowerpot hanger in the center of a 28" maple, tore up 4 chains until I found the ends of it. Burned it out of the round and it now hangs in my garage.

My Dad & I cut down a big hollow Oak next to an old house one day and it was full of old beer bottles

just about anything

like all of I have hit it; once i was jump cutting large limb to miss barb
fence limb was hollow distorted and declining , made undercut started
top cut limb seemed electrified sparks really flew, pulled out saw, chain gone decided to burn through to find hollow been filled with concrete!!!!

that cut blew beets!!! I have been using metal detector lately to save on chain; and coins not yet but hopeful
