In this video.. The guy is hammering something into his block of wood to winch it to the splitter .. Any idea what it is his is hammering in?

If any of you watched that show, Mountain Men, They were following a couple of guys from one of the Carolinas doing some logging. They were using those log dogs to skid logs using a horse. Can't remember what channel that show was on.

Pretty cool setup, Cleanest guy I have ever seen splitting wood. I agree with above, my balls wouldnt be there I do a little half turn now on my horizontal splitter to protect the boys from a popper. :(

I need one.. When the logs get about 3 feet long they won't feed very well in my processor .. No issues if I have another log on deck .. It pushes the butt end no problem.. But the last log of the day sometimes is a pain .

You talking about eustice and Preston .. I watch the show, but most of the time I fast forward when these 2 come on..

Eustace and his buddy? I liked those guys' practices but they're both fools.

That winch sucked that log in quick. I wouldn't want to split wood that tall, standing where he is standing. His balls were in line for a serious catastrophe if one of those logs pops.

Not much different than on a horizontal. Balls are right there even with the slide BTDT and it wasn't fun!

That sucker retracts FAST....Those logs must be on the lighter side. He moves them around fairly easy....

Might be stronger than he looks... I learned a long time ago to never underestimate the strength of a farmer or an old man. My grandpa is 85 and I still wouldn't fight him even if you offered me a baseball bat and a taser.
