I like the lightweight Poulan for trimming and small jogs. With the aluminum chain drive it will need replacement if it is used a lot. What brand/model is your #1 favorite if you could only have a single chainsaw for the rest of your life.
I've been buying Stihl (at least 5). the disappointing thing about them is the constant changes between them. In my opinion they don't want you to be able to use parts from an older saws. Even the Gas & oil screw in plugs changed, never mind the interior parts which are really hard to match up and even the delaer had to order several times to get the right one for that year.
In my case they wouldn't even honor the warrantee on my Christmas present MS 311 that they set up and I used a few times when it seized up. They unscrewed the spark plug and said they saw scouring on the cylinder so I must have changed the RPM or some crap. I told them it was new and they are the ones that got it ready got pickup. They said I can't prove that! I still have it and some day plan to change the cylinder head my self, I can't throw away a $600 + saw. In the mean time I had to buy another one but from another dealer from now on. I bought a tack and always check the RPM's when you change gas types or want to make sure the slow and High RPM's are correct or below the specified max. The little tack is great for checking my lawnmowers as well.
