So many of us talk about how to get best bang for our bark, but what about the extra heat holding ability of properly humidified air, not to mention the health benefits over very dry woodheat air.

What do you guys use to maintain the proper humidity levels in your homes.

I picked up a whole house unit that goes on the furnace plenum from the big box store.

We are rather primitive here ('Hey Og, that my rock an' stick'), I always keep a big pot (the enameled canning ones are excellent for this) of water topped off on the stove, lid controlled, windows fog up=too much, pot empty=too little, hanging a bit of laundry around doesn't hurt either :hmm3grin2orange:
I like humidifiers but haven't had the need for one in several years as this cabin is only around 700sq ft.

:)

We don't have a clothes drier, just a line in the summer and rack to dry clothes indoors in the winter. This seems to balance out the dryness and the rack doesn't have to be infront of the stove. We have it in the spare bedroom which works fine. We have a frontload washer that spins out alot of the water which helps I guess, there is no dripping, thats for sure.
