As we get on in years the memory seems to go, so I was just wondering if you fellas could help me identify this saw?
Thanks in advance,
John

no it is not a 7900, the hydro has been going off an on all day here and this time i got a better picture, I would say it is a 385, but then again maybe it is the famous 999, when I looked before I thought i was looking at a tank but it is the crankcase, if you need another 385 , i have one here pretty new , ported and has heated handles

I hope that isn't the way you have to put on the decompression valve.

Looks like you had a little mishap.

I'm pretty sure that saw is a 385, or maybe its your 7900. I cant tell from here.

John,
Looks like you got yourself a parts saw.

I know you don't know this John so I thought I'd post it for you.

Full Compliment...right cutter, tie-strap, left cutter, tie-strap, right cutter, and so on.

Semi-skip...right cutter, tie-strap, left cutter, tie-strap, tie-strap, right cutter, and so on.

Ok, here's the truth about what happened. First of all it was my 362KD with a 20" bar.
The wind was really up and I shouldn't have been falling. Secondly the Oregon bars are $hit and it was cutting crooked. Plus the sap was running heavy diluting bar lube.
Anyway, the tree set back on the bar, I should have used wedges, duh! lol
Cut myself out with the 7900 and the tree rolled with the 362 attached to it.
My main concern at the time was not damaging the tree.
A full prognosis with be available tomorrow as to damage as the skidder was on the landing for some scedueled mantainance, so the saw will have to sleep under the tree for tonight.

Looks like you were cutting a diamond for a ring with all those angles :D :D Why dont you guys use a longer bar so you can cut the tree off instead of chopping at it with a 20 inch club?

Easy there macman, his ticker is on the fritz. A 20" bar is all the doc will let him carry.

Seriously, if you had to hike your saw a kilometer into the woods you would make it just as heavy as it needs to be. If you can drive your truck up to it use as big a bar as you want.

Just think of what the tree could have done to John's new truck...

Yes, Tod is correct, the doc specified no more than 100 cc stock or 62cc tuned.
Russ, good thing I had my nitro with me.
