I'm curious to see what temperatures everyone is running their OWB's at and if you have forced hot air/hydro air or baseboard/radiant. Choose the closest range specified for your heating type above.

Forced air heat, and my Woodmaster fan kicks on at 160 and turns off at 170. This is what the factory setting is.

I keep my Heatmor high setting at 180 with a 5 to 10 degree differential. Seems to burn much cleaner at the 5 degree setting since its not in the smolder mode as long, also keeps the fire box clear of any creosote build up.

I will set my supply temp. on the CB at 180 for most of the winter, 170 for fall/spring. I'm a big advocate of sizing your hydrocoils as large as you can, so you can still get enough BTU's to do the job at lower supply temps.

This could be an interesting thread.

I set mine at 130 usually but sometimes I'll turn it up to 140 if I wanna get my garage i bit warmer. Temp setting in mine seems to be directly linked to wood consumption so the lower the better for me.
Saturday is supposed to be close to 60 degrees and I plan to let the fire go out and make some changes to mine so I'll be playing with the temp settings after my mods to see what happens.

my heatmor is set at 180 and 160 that is the way the installer set it. Do all of ya think that is good settings

Heatmore Temp Settings

My burner (4 years Old) runs best when set to 160 on and 185 off. What I ahve found is that you want a good bed of coals (12 " deep). If you have that then the fan on event emits almost no smoke and the temp climbs to 185 very quickly. What is happening is the oxygen deprived fire produces charcoal then the fan produces instant heat from a nice coal bed.

When I get this condition stabilized I use less wood very little smoke and my fill times are extended. Depending on the wind, temp and what not I fill twice a day and regulate the amount and type of wood to stay in that sweet spot.

Hawken

Forced air and 160 - 180 set by dealer. Seems to be working well for me. All the heat I need for DHW, furnace HE and garage heater.

this will be my 18th winter with the hardy and I have tryed a lot of different settings but allways go back to 180 . in summer I kick it back to whatever will stay lit for the wood being used.

Mahoning furnace, 160 on and 180 off , first season , seems to be working good , heating 30' x 60' shop at 45 degrees most of the time and a 1200 sq ft house at 70-72 , and DHW , nice and cozy . Load twice a day , was about 0 degrees here a week ago , I saw a difference in wood use but two fills a day was still enough .

I have radiant and I run my Heatmor from 185-165....I have changed it a few times to try some different stuff out, but it seems to work best for me in this range.

Owb

I installed a Crown Woodmaster last fall and am heating my blocked garage as well as my 2000 and some square foot home as well as my DHW. It is currently set on 160 degrees and I fill it twice a day, whether it needs it or not.
