Not on my bench but under it. Started life as an 025 then a facelift to ms250 plastics. Went to see if it would run and go a few seconds then die. Here was taken apart to eliminate gasket and used high temp silicone. Kid also used 4 different bolts to bolt pan and top end back together. Two of which were #6 screws. Looks like threads a screwed up so going to try and use 6mm flange bolts in place of the factory bolts and see what happens. Will also have muffler mod done and I cleaned up a ridge that was in both the intake and exhaust port. Hope that all helps it out some.

I assembled the Homelite XL that I've had apart for a while, got it looking decent and decided to try to start it. A few pulls and I decided to check for spark, which was absent. I removed the kill wire and tried again, still no spark. Now I guess I'll search for a module. The only thing I have right now is a module from a Poulan 2000.. wonder if it'll work?
 
I found a Poulan mini in my shop and decided to remove the coil to see if it would work in my Homelite XL and the coils do look alike. The only problem is that it is a points coil instead of a solid state. I did manage to dig deeper and found a Homelite module, slapped it in and now it has spark! It's all back together so if the carb is okay it should run.

Picked up this 1986 61 with a 266xp top cover on it (I’m still trying to get that saw off the guy too lol) but this one is getting a 272 conversion!
I had the saw apart as far as the piston and cylinder, little service and clean then back together with a fresh carb kit and away she went!

I think up next might be the super duper secret Skunkworks project 51... hahaha.... I snagged a new OEM Husky 45mm cylinder off of the bay for dirt cheap. So I hunted all the other parts down on the same cheap budget .... or so I thought. As usual, probably have more in it than it is worth but I like the journey.

Complete tear down and rebuild.

Apparently the carb isn't okay. After putting it back together I primed it and it did hit but wouldn't keep running. I must have pulled on it close to 40 times and it didn't make a noise. It had the same fuel I use in my other saws so it must be something in the carb or maybe the impulse passage is stopped up (think I checked that, not sure). Anyway it's back on the bench waiting for me to have some spare time..
 
Guess I had a little time today so I took the XL apart (again) and, although the carburetor looked clean the gaskets and diaphragms were brittle so I have to see if I can buy a carb kit tomorrow. It still may not do well if the little one way valve in the middle is messed up. I tried making them and they didn't work very well. I went ahead and soaked the carb while I had it out..
 
More bench madness! I need more benches..... like another hole in the head...

Fellow worker has an old skid steer with a Wisconsin V4. Running crappy. He already cleaned out the big chunks of rust and corrosion. Wanted me to run through the heated ultrasonic for a bit and find a carb kit. Oh joy!

Same fellow worker, his brother snagged this jem from a scrap yard somewhere. Damn good shape and all there. He claims it runs but leaks gas after it has run. Tank was wet but looks like the coating or lining is falling apart. Got some chunks out. I did replace the OEM fuel filter just for kicks.

I filled fuel aboot half full and bar oil the same. Greased the bar tip cuz it was looking pretty dry. Even the damn manual oiler works! Blew the fines out from under the air filter and carb box. Took it outside and in 4 pulls it starts and runs beautifully!!!! The throttle response is great, winds up full bore and 4 strokes a bit early but it is on the safe side.

Let it sit for a aboot 30 minutes and no leaks anywhere....... yet. Really a nice little saw. Got a 20" bar, chain is garbage but easily replaceable. Not too heavy either. Feels solid in the hands.

Oh noooooo.... am I about start collecting older saws now????? Sh!t........

A little Honda EU2000i with "run on choke only" complaint. As per the standard, gummed up carb from old fuel..... Specifically the emulsion tube with the green crusties.

The all plastic pilot jet was clean and clear by some miracle but missing a factory 2nd o-ring to seal the top half... strange. Air filter was starting to degrade and the plug had heavy deposits like it was the factory original plug. Both new now.

Runs like a champ now... till next year! LOL

The idle jet only has one o-ring. I’ve worked on hundreds of these generators never seen two o-rings on any of them.
