The next bench victim, the 1990 266xp
Anything related to camper repair is the worst... just needed to replace electric tongue jack switch...... No sir, not so fast! The jack maker decided to solder 2 of the main female power lugs to said switch.
Tried desoldering first, out in the wind of course, gained some ground. Then tried to pry open the tabs just a bit to slide the switch off. NOPE. Used pocket screwdriver as a pry bar and snap.... she broke.
At this point I just cut the other connector off and removed the entire top assembly because the dang wires are now too short. Uuuuuuuuuggggggg!!!
But at least I got to remove and clean every stinking gear, pin and washer, then apply new moly grease. Along with replacing all the wiring in it to my specs...... LONGER DAMN WIRE! LOL

I have a Dolmar 510 that owner says it doesn't run right. Runs for awhile then shuts off. The bad thing about Dolmar is I don't have any spare parts to try on them like ignition, carb.
Also have a MS250 that won't start; has 120 compression and spark. I tried putting a small amt. of fuel in the sparkplug hole and it still wouldn't start. Hmmm.
I'm thinking the owner of these saws put some bad fuel in them because I used my own fuel in the Dolmar and it started right up, haven't tried the Stihl again because I have a new adjustable carb coming for it. The Dolmar will get a carb kit and I'll try removing the epoxy blocking the H and L screws.

Now to clean the bench off and get the rest of the top end ready to put onto the bottom end, won’t be long till she runs now

I bought an OEM carb (Chinese)for a Champion 3100 . It was about 40 bucks

I pulled the carb,, the needle was very stuck,, freed it up,, cleaned everything.
We got powa!!
The 266xp now runs, no video or fully assembled pix yet lol, but here’s the carb and cylinder all assembled before I got it on the base! And as an experiment I made a thinner than normal base gasket instead of using motoseal!

Got an 025 that won’t oil. Found that the fastener for plastic connector was loose. Snugged it up but it still won’t oil. Filter is clear, no cracks in the hose, no cracks or blockages in plastic connector, O ring intact, internal passage is clear to the exit hole, worm gear good and its wire hooks well to the notch on the drum. Gotta be the pump itself. Wish I could test it some way. I don’t have spare to install for comparison.

I think the spring on the worm is your problem. Spring looks to be bent inwards, and worn on the tip. The tip is what engages on the drum. Try bending it out a tad and see if it works. The drum has a line on the outside which is supposed to line up with the spring , on the bottom edge of drum there is a notch to catch the spring.
Thanks. I did bend the spring’s tip up toward the notch and does engage the drum. I tested it by indexing a starting point on the casing for the notch, with a marker. Then I rotated the drum and verified that the spring’s tip ended up where the notch did. That spring’s tip is indeed worn though so I’ve ordered a new worm gear / spring.
I guess my man Coleman is up next...... 2nd shift managers spare genny. He claims it will not fire off.
I get it home and pop the fuel tank cap off for a whiff..... empty... but smells rank.
I pour a smidge of E0 in the tank, choke on full and give the cord 7 rips.... nothing. Hear dripping and peer under the fuel tank to see gas dripping to floor. Cracked hose below the clamp. No problemo! I got hose, an inline valve and a filter on standby. Figure I should pop the carb bowl off for a look..... NFGAA.
Found a new OEM Tecumseh carb on eBay for $80.00.... hard NO. Individual parts add up to almost the same.... skip it. I hate to but gonna try a cheap clone carb from the usual scumbags for $16.00. The bonus is I get cloned plug... fuel and air filters and hose. May have to file some of that in the f$$k it bucket per usual as long as the carb will work.
If I get it to run good then move on to oil change and spark plug with a few other odds and ends. So how about it? Who's rooting for my man Coleman???

Well.... Coleman is a stand up guy err geny.... yeah. Shotgun some new parts and after a bit of rough running at first, he settled down and ran like a Singer. That's a sewing machine brand for the persons who don't know.
Voltage and frequency checks out fine with and without a load... all that's left is to change the oil and we golden! He's a loud little brute tho!

And now this... my bench seems to be getting bigger....
My cousins place up the road. Had some gnarly wind with a storm a few weeks ago. I only lost 7 small branches... him not so lucky. Poor tree... that is the 3rd big branch that has come off of it over a 20yr stint. We may just drop it totally in the end.
At least I can give my 562XP a better work out!
