What's the point of cutting cookies?

I'm new to all this, but several people in several days have made reference to cuttting cookies. What's up with little round biscuits of wood that may or may not fit into your stove, but certainly don't fit in the woodpile?

Silly question, I know, but....

Whats the point, NONE. Why do it, for the heck of it. Saw guys like to get their saws super sharp and super fast and see what that baby will do in a cut. Some like doing it to compare differant makes of saws, ya know, who has the power. Is there really any point in it other than bragging rights, nope. The fastest saw will never outcut the fastest operator in the woods where it counts most. A man with fast hands and fast feet and a slow saw will cut rings around a man with slow hands and slow feet and a fast saw any day of the week.

Heck if everyone wants to cut cookies, come on over and help yourself to the log pile, just make sure the cookies are 16" long.:biggrinbounce2:

UMMM that's an overshare!

Do you mean lump in front or back?
It makes a difference.:hmm3grin2orange:

I'm afraid I asked....

Damn! I post a silly question that I think has a silly answer and a half hour later the thread takes the sillyiest (sp) turn!

Okay, okay...I get the picture. Cookies serve no real useful function other than to get one's jollies. Okay. Fair enough.

Er, ah, they make the log last longer?

Well I wouldn't say its a totally worthless thing to do. Its a way for a man to measure his equipment without looking over at the other guy taking a leak,LOLOL
