Hey guys! Anybody know why Jonsered dropped the 2195 from the lineup? I was in a dealer today, and looked at the line of saws. There arent any dealers near me, so I had to go about an hour away. I was surprised that they no longer make a large saw. I was told you can only buy the big one if you buy the mill. Is this true, or do these two dealers I hit just have the wrong info?

Also, one carries the Efco brand. He found out while getting current prices for me, that they no longer make the biggest saw, and the 971? is discontinued.

That's right, Jonsered has discontinued the 2095. They weren't a real hot seller, so there are probably a few left out there if you want one.

Jonsered is distributed in most of USA by Tilton dist. in NH. They also have the USA rights to EFCO, so it is common enough to see the EFCO and Jonny's side by each in the rack.

Here's what I think; the market is slim enough for the big saws that its hard to justify spending any money making certain they meet the changing EPA standards.

I think Jonsered will burn up existing stock on the mills, then try to sell the mills with a 2186 for a while, but after users complain, they'll modify the mill to work with a small four-stroke like a Briggs or Honda. The Mill is getting expensive enough that you might as well step up to a log mizer, anymore.

That's probably what I will end up doing. I just lost a Husky dealer in my area. He didn't like people going to Home Depot a mile away and bringing saws to him for service. So, he got rid of the whole line. Another guy near me is thinking of doing the same thing. We will be left out in the cold. It's time to start thinking about switching brands. That's why I'm looking at Jonsered.

I realize that. But, I haven't picked up a red one since I owned a 920, and a 670. So, I am a little hesitant. It's just that I have run Husky for so long now, that's all.

Not the same as it's orange counterpart? Is that good or bad? Go ahead, educate me. I know you want to.

Gee Steve, after running the orange machine, why would ya wanna run anything else anyways?

If you want a big johnson buy a 3120 . A 2186 is all you need for anything east of the Mississippi. Seth

What size saw would you use for 5'-6' dbh Oak and Sycamore trees? Yes, they grow that big east of the Mississippi.

Well, like I said. Not that I want to, but I may have to eventually. Without local dealers, where will we end up if we need parts, or have a breakdown?

I had one in Methuen, but he dropped Husky recently. I have one around the corner from me, but he is talking about dropping them too. Besides that, I have to drive quite a ways. About an hour at least.

Doesn't take an hour to get to Lowell...

The name escapes me, but I think they're on Merrimack or something.

I'll try to find it. I was impressed with what I saw from Jonsered. The two year warranty is impressive. Nobody around here has the Solo, Echo, or Effco stuff. I checked on the Effco, cant find one to look at. The Solo sounds like a good deal. I am looking into one of the 690's from that site where they are only 449.95. Listed as "reconditioned", but thats only cause they didnt pass EPA. I'm limited unless I want to drive an hour or more.

I hear ya on losing local dealers tho...

I loved it when Lesco was in Chelmsford- they were great when you needed something in a pinch.

The guy nearest to me used to carry Partner. Then, switched to Sachs when Partner went away. Then went to Husky when Sachs stopped selling. Now, with everything going on with Husky, he might be switching again. It's been hurting him when Husky is sold just a short distance away at Home Depot. Also, with the prices of Husky online, he's losing a lot of business. I think he's been looking into Jonsered.

I know, pretty soon they'll be selling Husky at WalMart...

But hey, it's just across the river from ya then!

:D

Yeah thats right!! And by then, the quality of 'em will be like something out of WalMart. Oh well. I'm going to call it a night. Early day tomorrow. Thanks for the insight. See ya
