I have a Master classic. Love this saddle had it for 4 years now and love the versatileity of multiple attachment points and light weight and overall ergonomics of it . Actualy thinking of upgrading to the deluxe version. The only thing i dont like is the waist belt adjusters. There on the sides of the saddle and can be tuff to tighten with winter clothes on. I guess suspenders would help.
Also thought about adding my own rope bridge witch could be done easly with this saddle. Don't think i would use it all the time but for some applications it could be nice.
So what saddle do you have ? what do you like disslike about it ?
what would you upgrade too and why ?

I have an Elderid treemagic ll. Very comfortable, loads of gear loops and a huge range of adjustments.2 floating rings on the bridge which I really like.
One thing I would change though is to add quick release buckles on the leg loops.

I have a master classic too. I agree with you on the adjusters, other than that I like it.

I use a floating Double D. I like not just the name but the butt strap and long fron sliding bar. It's a little heavy but my Weaver doesn't cut the circulation of in my legs or ride up on my wallnuts when hangin around like the master jockstrap i used to use. It worked well on the frozen 70' Popple in northern WI today. Didn't feel the weight of the saddle today with all the extra layers. It was snowing and blowing out of the north on the bluff we were on. Frozen Popple is really hard.

I've been using a master classic for 3 years now as well. Like it, no complaints other then what you mentioned about the winter clothing on. Whenever you have a jacket or vest on (what I wear) it always pulls out and you have to re-tighten. I like the multiple attachments on it, and it's very comfortable. I think I may try a Petzl swing this year.....friend of mine is a Petzl dealer and may be able to try one as a Demo for him for a while (or get it for his cost)

Took me a bit to get the straps where I want them and not pinch the family jewels on my Master Classic. Now it's good to go!

How are they set up now ?

Just a standard buckle, threaded back through. Iwas playing with a pals petzl sequoia a while back, the quick release buckles were brilliant on the leg loops, very fast to put on and off, also saves getting loads of muck from your boots all over your loops and pants:)

Cougar recall

Last night I was on Wes Spur website and I saw that there was a recall on the cougar sadle made Weaver I think. As I recall it was due to the front "slide bar" failure. THIS COULD KILL SOMEONE !

I just got a Treemotion saddle and I love it. It is the most comfortable saddle I have ever climbed in and you can build the accessory points how ever you want them. The only complaint is it sags when you attach any saw larger than a 200t on to the hooks. All in all it is an amazing saddle and I'd give it a 9.5 out of 10.

Saddle up.

Been climbing the Master since 07. Been very happy with it and have gotten used to the side adjusters. Tried playing around with a rope bridge on it and it is ok but not at all like the Sequoia or Ergovation. weight distribution isn't as good, leg loops sit high and at an angle, the boys get caught OUCHHH! occassionally. So if you want a rope bridge or are considering an upgrade look at Sequoia or Ergovation. I found both to be excellent saddles. Actually had a tough time choosing so I went with both. Ergovation is a cadillac and can really be custom taylored to you and seasonal clothing. Sequoia fit like a glove and I can't wait to try it when the dog days of summer get here. I also kept the Sequoia because it fit my 12 year old daughter incredibly well who is a new climbing junky. We have an I-beam in the house and she spends lots of time "low and slow" with new friction hitches and gear. Of course I find her inverted and gigling alot, nice to know the saddle holds her that securely and is comfortable. Haven't retired the Master but the new ones are stylin' for sure. Good luck

We have been using the Deluxe Master & Deluxe Pinnacle Saddles for quite a while and love them but while hunting for the best prices ran into the reason after looking at the pix\ description and prices. The cheaper ones seem to come with the step in waist belt with two adjustable side mount Y2 friction buckles that i don't feel safe in cause the material is thinner and it just feels unsafe.
BUT the more expensive master & pinnacle have a big beefy grommeted waist buckle & is easier to adjust! Some also come with 3 quick release buckles for easy use all upfront! Just look around at the pix and description carefully! hope this helps, and as always be safe! :glasses-cool:

Petzl Sequoia for me. When I first pulled outa the box I thought I been took. It just seemed like a toy. After I tried it, within an hour, my old school butt couldn't believe I had climbed so long in my old Bashlin swing. It didnt take long to put things were I wanted em and all there was left to do was climb! It's SO comfy that even after 3 years I still pause every so often an think about how nice it is. I have had the itch to get a new saddle this spring but I dont think I can justify it. I think the ergovation looks pretty darn nice , except the 500 part. That doesnt seem so nice. Although I am trying to make a more determined effort to buy American and I assume the Ergovation is USA made. But...a saddle is obv a very important tool and as long as it's not made in china then I will prolly get what I like best. And right now I am def big on the Sequoia.

how much is one of those?
do you have any links?

I've tried the Sequoia, and was not happy with the fit, but then I am a bigger person then most.

I am on my 3rd Buck' master.

I am alittle on the thick side myself and have only had a fit problem with my sequoia in the winter. Sometimes I have trouble tightning up the waist belt. Not sure why it makes a diff but it does. Every thing seems more diffucult with all those darn clothes on. I am usualy able to snug it up some more once I am climbing. When I say I am alittle thick I am talkn like ...38 inch waist (for blue jeans) and I gotta work at stay outa 40 inch. If I dont watch my diet an exercise in the off season I will def plump out.

beubie question

few years an acquaintance of mine bought a saddle for about 70$. He`s a mountain climber and the saddle was a pro one.
Is it ok to use for climbing trees?
is there any difference?
a good quality saddle is very expensive in USA let alone ship it to Europe.
I think I can get myself one of those. good quality but the seller is having an underground shop with all kind of pro mountain gear from extraordinary brands like Mammut, Salewa, Scarpa, Salomon etc. therefore the price is inferior and affordable.
thanks
