I have been thinking about this recently. Was just thumbing through the Sherrill catalog and read the little side bar about CTF. At what point do you replace your rigging slings? Blocks? Rope grabs and whatnot.

I just replaced my eye sling for my block. Not really replaced it but bought another one. I've got two years on the Tenex sling and there is some slight glazing but not too bad. I still plan to use it for redirects and will probably still use it with my block on smaller wood. Just wondering when it should be replaced.

Was wondering the same thing about my rope grab for my flip cord. I've been using the one I have for about 4 years now. I had to switch it out to another lanyard a week or so back and was thinking about all the stress it has encountered over four years of constant use along with the biner that I attach it to my D ring with. They look fine upon visual inspection but I wonder if there is a time frame when you are supposed to replace that kind of hardware. That's a piece of gear you really don't want to fail if you know what I mean...

New ropes and slings every year, metal stuff when needed. I just make sure I inspect everything, all the time.
