I would say 15 below C in the Great Lakes Region. With high winds at this temp., it will blow the mustard right off your hotdog!
Its the wind that gets you, that why an Arctic or Sno Pro is the way to go. You dont want to be far from your truck, unless prepared. 35 below is fun to experience in the Yukon, especially on a trip to the outhouse.

The last winter I lived in NW Colorado, for the month-long period of mid-January to mid-February, the high temperature reached -26°F (-32°C) and with wind chill factored in, it was -40°F (and C). That's partly why I moved away.

That's the way I remember it at any rate -- there's much I don't recall from back then...

Well with the wind chill of about -15,-20*F around here I took all last week off but I still dobbed around with cordwood and cut and split 10 cord I gotta deliver it today..Usually when it hits -20 thats when logging starts to really slow down around here..

Later Rob..

this is as far as i have got outside in the last couple weeks. my shop is 6 feet from my house. yea, i'm a lazy logger...............

Man, it was cold today! I think it was 62 below, freeze the balls off a brass monkey!
As soon as you step outside, it feels like you got hit by a swinging bag of chisels

It was a balmy -3 degrees F this morning when I was out unrolling hay. I keep the tractor plugged in on a timer so it's 'warm' between 7 and 10AM. Even so.....it was a bear to start.

Once you're out there it's fine...but getting the gumption to GO out there is something else.

I'm trying to figure out a way to wear my AM/FM radio ear muffs (a short antenae sticks up off one ear piece) ***AND*** wear a hat that would at least cover my forehead. I tried putting them over the hat yesterday...the tractor was still too loud...and today I wrapped a scarf around my forehead like an old hippie....didn't work so well. I think I'll have to design/sew something....

Luckily....I have a trailer FULL of hedge and don't have to worry about cutting anything for a bit.

Hi Che', I have this type of scarf that is circular, like a sorta of thick turtle neck thingy. Anyway, it is really warm and when Susie came here from Wash., she always wore it, and refered to it as a "napey neckie thingee". It is ideal and is better than a scarf.
John

Don't start wearing turtlenecks!
They are only worn by gay guys around here. Not that there
is anything wrong with that.
Thet also drink wine coolers and mexican beer with limes,
and have decompression releases on their saws{limp wrist thing}
And all they do is ????? about the cold.............
Err, never mind.....

I enjoy these "cold weather" threads...I don't feel like such a wimp anymore when others admit they're cold at warmer temps.

Truth be told, Che probably has it coldest of all. I attended a funeral in Carbondale, Ill. on a 25 degree day there. 25 degrees, there, was way colder and more chilling than 25 below here in Mn.

Does this mean I shouldnt be wearing my rainbow suspenders anymore? I was wondering why I was getting teased while in camp.
John

No, the reason you were teased at camp was because you were running around saying "Hi there" to everyone and wearing rainbow suspenders.

Alright! I've just about had it with you fellas teasing me!
Next picture I take of me falling a tree, I will be wearing a kilt with rainbow suspenders and a pink wig, saying "Hi There".
