I love my 9010 and I am going to get a 7900 very soon. Once I have it, I can't see using my 385xp very often. I am really thinking of selling it, but if I do, I might as well get the most I can. I have seen some pretty crazy prices on Ebay, but from reading here, it only gets better (or worse if you are buying), when do prices seem to be highest?

Also, what do you think is the best bar chain combo to offer. I have the factory 24" bar that is in very good condition. I may offer it with a choice of the 24 or a brand new Windors Speed Tip 20" both with 1 new chain. I have a brand new 32" with 3 chains that I might offer as an upgrade for ? dollars. Or I could offer with choice of the three.

The reason I would not mind getting rid of the 32 with the chains, is that it is .063 and everything else I have is .050. If I ditch the .063, then it would be easier to justify buying chain by the roll, although if I bought a new 32" bar, I might get skip tooth chain.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Jim

BITE ME!!!! We just went through this not even two months ago "No Andy, I can't get rid of anything, I have to have it all!" Just couldn't sell me that 385, that's what it's all about isn't it:help: So I go out and have one built instead of buying local, thats ok, I see now how it is:mad: I'll have to get with you and bring my new toy to show you how a reall saw runs now:hmm3grin2orange:

I would sit on it another month or two, wait for it to get colder, then people think about firewood. Or hold out for another ice storm? (I know I am:biggrinbounce2: )

Andy,

Ok, I must have missed your posts, what did you have built? I know I told you I would not want to sell it, and maybe I won't, but I am afraid it just won't get any use. I thought about keeping it and having it worked over, but if I do that, I might as well do it to one of the 7900 or 9010.

That 9010 is only 5cc's bigger, but there is no comparison. 24" bar burried in Hedge, full comp chain, screams all the way through the cut. With the 24" bar it outcuts the 385 with a 20" bar. At first I thought that it would not be worth the extra weight, but it is. However I am not carrying it all day, I mostly use it to take down big trees (big for our area) and the resulting stump.

Do you need any Hackberry?

Hackberry, YES YES and YES!!!!! We mix that in with the "mixed wood", try to make it at least 1/3 hardwoods.

Glad to hear you are happy with the saw you beat me out of:cheers:

Freakingstang made me an offer on an 046 I couldn't refuse, then put the BB kit on it as well as..........:hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange: If you can wade through all of the BS, it is the one he built on the "Freakinstang support group" thread in off the topic.

I think its NOW.
Between hurricane season and people eyeing up thier firewood supply, I have been routinely seeing used saws selling on Ebay for almost the same price as new ones on the net.
:jawdrop:

Andy,

I am waiting on a plan from the Kansas Foresty Service. They came out last Thursday and looked at the property. I am not sure that exactly what his reccomendations will be, but either way I think that I am going to be thinning out some of the Hackberry, Kentucky Coffee's and maybe some Red Elm.

I think that I can hook you up.

Jim

COOL!!!! Have a cord and a half of Ash, and a Hackberry, might get two cord out of it, across the street to take out ( have to wait for the farmer to cut down his weed infested soy beans first) But the more the merier!!! Thanks for the hook up!

Ebay used to be the spot to get deals, but no more. Used saws go for almost new prices, and "new" saws go for new prices, but with no dealer support or any real idea where it came from. Ebay is a seller's market for saws nowadays. Which is why I've not bought one from there in over two years. I don't know that there is a season. In pawn shops, yes. Their inventory goes up and down, but on Ebay, there's always saws, and always people willing to spend way too much for them.

Market and list it right, and you'll get good money every time.
