Does anyone have word on when the new 441 will be available? And do you have any specifics on the saw? Thanks. Tom :help:

I work on the Nature Conservancy saws here in West Texas; they have an old 044 that I've worked on for at least three years or more. I think I've talked them into buying a new saw; and, wondered if the 441 was available yet. Otherwise they will buy a 440. Our nearest dealer (175 miles) only stocks homeowner saws, so it will be a special order no matter which one we buy.

I remember an earlier thread on this subject; and, ignored your classic advice of doing a search. :dizzy: So will do one now. ha! Tom

not yet. I checked the Stihl NW system and they don't show. I was previously told "late spring", which I guess can be up to mid June!

It's European/Canadian. Same platform as the 361, but smaller bore.

same bore... same cylinder, same piston, same.... almost identical in all respects except slightly detuned and lower power. why? no idea!

Probably, for the replacement of 034 and retaining this series of saws. 036 was decreased from 61 cm3 to 59cm3 and got the MS361

my local dealer a gold level service tech said when he went to the factory this year he ran the 361 production saws the 441 production saws the prototype of the 661 to be out by years end and they demonstrated the new 4 stroke saw line for them but noone was allowed to even hold those models just a rip a run then back to the engineering compound. he says the 661 will be the ???? but watch for oil output on all the new models because none of them put out enough oil to throw oil from the chain just enough to make the chain glisten.

This may be a silly question, but why would anyone drive 175 miles to a dealer when 95% of brands are a phone call away?

You are probably right Pinus, it probably also is for about the same reason that there are the 359/2159 in addition to the 357xp/2156 - lower price for those who doesn't need all the power.
Just a slightly different way to hit two price points with one basic design.:hmm3grin2orange:

The 441 is 4.1 kW/5.5 bhp/5.6 hp and 6.6 kg - .1 kg more than the MS460...

Spacemule, thou surely knowest that to get a Stihl you must 'go to' the dealer, let him start and run the saw before it leaves the shop. I'm not interested in 95% of the saws, only a Stihl. There are no dealers for any saws within a 175 mile radius of where I live. Its 83 miles to a Wal Mart and its a small one. But we like it here.
