Rob hasn't posted since the end of September. I hope nothing has happened to to him. I finally met him earlier in the summer. He's a good kid.

I haven`t spoken with him but there has been an occasional post at the Forestry Forum from him. I figure that he probably got tangled up with a female. You know how it can be when you are younger and not so sure of how to deal with them.

Yes, Russ. I agree, however I've also recently observed how 50 year old people can't handle relationships either. Nonetheless, I hope Rob is well.

Rob,
I'm glad you are only having computer problems and mnothing more serious. Right now I am having hangover problems and I suspect that tomorrow morning won't be any different. Now that I'm not working on the cabin anymore for this year, I have too much weekend time on my hands and that can get real dangerous.

The inside of the cabin is effectively done, sans a few minor items. I worked on it just about every weekend from the end of April till the beginning of November. Once I got the trim done, the flooring and other "add-ons" went pretty fast.

Here's one of the little Jotul #3 woodstove and hearth.

I had a friend come in and do the carpeting on the stairs and upstairs. For the first floor, I did 3-1/2" rustic maple hardwood which only took me a couple of days.

Two weekends a go, I got tired of all this crap laying around my house here waiting to go, so I bit the bullet and hauled some stuff up there. If I didn't already have this 200 lb. TV, I would have opted for a flat screen, so I nearly broke my back getting it in there. But what the hell, it's just a shack.

I just bought a 34" Sony Wega XBR.

Figured I could skip the store delivery service and get it home myself. That was the most idiotic decision I've made in a while. But what did I know, it was my first big TV, I didn't know it was like moving a friggin' bank safe.

My first wide screen as well, a bit weird getting accustomed to. OK for cable feed. Awesome for w/s formatted DVD's.

dbabcock,

That's some very nice custom millwork.

Great use of under-stair space, too.

Yes, those 16:9 wide screens are definitely the way to go for appropriately scaled DVD's. The 34" XBR is a nice piece; maybe even the best picture on the planet in that size range. Mine's a 32" 32HV600 with the whole upsampling enchelada as well. They stopped making it earlier this year and reverted to the less expensive 32HS510 because the size/feature market for this "small" a TV just wasn't there. I made the under-stair cutout for this specific unit (plus a little if I ever replace it).

Rob's computer is broken and he is waiting for a new one so he's still alive and kicking.

Hello Doug, you better rip out all that woodwork, as I see it, you are off .00000013 degrees from square, but in retrospect, it's no real biggy, there are no straight lines in nature.
