Who got the Solo Twin?

Yup. It seems as if people have an aversion to paying what a saw is actually worth if they know you got a bargain on it.

What I find interesting is that when people hear you paid say, $45.00 for a certain saw, and then you decide to sell it, they decide that you should sell it to them for what you paid for it.

I don't think so!

What you pay for equipment is your business and the person who sold it to you. No one else has any bearing or involvement.

+1 from a buyers stand point and a sellers!

I agree, folks shouldn't expect you to put a low price on a saw just because you got a good deal when you aquired it. And that holds even more true if you took the time, effort, & money to put it right.

Hey Anthony, that girl in your avatar is almost as pretty as the tractor.:D

VoidJackass thinks she's underage, but who cares what VoidJackass thinks?

Aslo it can be frustrating when you take the time/spend the money to make a saw right and replace parts then after people wanna pay project saw prices. Some of the offers I get with the hours I have in some of em are insulting. A mans time is worth something and that is time (working on/tracking down parts) the buyer will not have to invest. I get tired of hearing "well one of those same saws (although not running, missing covers etc) sold for only such and such last week".

No truer words ever spoken here. I've purchased several of your saws that you've had for sale. Also, I've also been surprised at there overall condition, especially realizing the amount of effort you've put forth in making them that way.

I like hearing when someone steals a saw for a super low price. To me it makes the story that much better. I say good for him!! It keeps that hope that someday it may happen to me. It bugs the heck out of me when they go to sell it months later, and someone says " I remember what you payed for it". So what! Say someone gives you a saw.... your supposed to give it away again? Almost all of my dealings here on AS, I have given parts away. Several times I even paid the shipping and supplied the free parts. If I can help, I do so. If I need the money, I try to set a fair price.... regardless what I paid.

Don't worry about it. Anytime there's a desirable saw up, there's going to be nosey Nellies who want the details of the transaction. People haven't learned yet that a lot of what goes on simply isn't their business.
Thanks, and I agree!
I find it interesting that people always seem to want to know what I paid for the saws I pick up. It is really not anyone elses business and bragging about how cheap you may have acquired a saw has a way of coming back to bite you when it is time to sell. If I wanted people to know I would post the information....
Thanks...I agree!

You're right!

I'vre noticed that, too.

10-4 on that!
Being nosey is one thing. People are going to be nosey, it's just in our nature. But throwing around accusations without evidence of any wrong doing is BS.

When it comes down to it, it's really no ones business.
Thank you!!!!

That's a good way to be.

What I think is so frustrating here is that when you mention a saw that you have for sale in this forum, you get accused of advertising or promoting your item, and people "slam" you for that. But yet if you don't mention on here that you are selling a good item, and certain members seei it later on fee-bay, they will still "slam" you with false accusations or gossip anyway. It darn sure isn't behavior that should be expected from adults. More like behavior of "chaps" that never grew up. One thing for sure, though.....My future saw aquisitions will not be "aired" on this site.:)

I'm a certified bargain hunter, & I like to share (ok, maybe brag about) some of the deals I find, even if they are rare. If I later decide to sell a saw or parts, I'll put a very reasonable price on it with some room for negotiating, especially for AS members. The last thing I want to hear is "But you only paid $XXX for it!", but I guess that is to be expected from some folks.

One rule I have a difficult time with is No Price Discussions, which AS thankfully doesn't have. Keeping price discussions out of the open forums seems like a good way for folks to take advantage of people who don't know what they have, "I found this huge old chainsaw in my grandpa's barn, I have no idea what it's worth...." I think it's better to leave price discussion decisions up to the individual members.

I guess people will be people. There ARE alot of great people here, and I've met some nice folks on here. Some don't live too far away, either.

Well let me put the facts out there I bought the Solo Twin and yes i paid him in cash the seller met me half way i live in Boones Mill Va he lives next to South Hill Va and we met in appomatox Va very nice guy to deal with and the saw was just like he described. As far as what the saw is worth to me its worth every penny i spent to get it with 10 seconds left i put in a bid for 2000.00 to be 99% sure i got it i collect a few saws and thats one i have been looking for for a long time i dont mind paying for something i want and i don't mind paying a fair price to where its a good deal for me and a good deal for the saler i don't like fealing like i was cheated and i don't want some one to feal like i cheated them. I even bought a 242xp from a member here that was really nice he had what i wanted so i offered him 600.00 and he was hesitant but i explained i wanted for my collection and i wanted to pay him what i thought would be fair due to the fact they are hard to come by as nice as his was so he sold me the saw and it sits on my shelf of saws. As for the solo yes it runs like a top i disasmbled it and cleaned the points the muffler out pulled the cylinders off and check the crank bearings and every thing looked good then the carb and put it partialy back together primed the carb and pulled it twice and fired right up. so then i took it back apart so i can paint it then put it back together and make it look like new and NO IT WANT BE FOR SALE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Later Troy

I was more worried about the homelite 550 myself.
You haven't slept since then...have you ? LOL
You'll get one. Hang in there. Hopefully I will too.
I was working on getting that one from my buddy the other day. He whines about how tough it is to work with but I haven't been able to spark his interest in another saw. :bang: I'm sure he'd love my 5100s, but I ain't giving that.
He thinks my 024 Super will be too small. I need to get him to try it for a while.

Good for you! Are you going to take pics of the repaint for those of us that may never see a Solo Twin?

THANK YOU FOR THIS POST!!!!! Some of these members were trying to say that you were not a "real" bidder, and I was a "crooked" seller. That made BOTH of us look bad, in my opinion. My wife says to "chalk" it up to jealousy!!! I am very happy that the saw is running good, and once again, it was nice meeting you and I hope you enjoy the Solo. If I EVER find another one of them, I am calling you to see if you want "twin twins"...
