Just fired up my jotul tonight just to cure some work I did on it over the summer. I use a heat pump this time of year to keep the chill off.

Who's burnin?

Never stopped from last winter. Wifey likes to brush teeth with warm water (not to mention long hot baths) and the price of oil keeps me broke!!! So DHW heat exchanger is doing it's job.:givebeer: Doesn't use too much fuel for DHW.

Fired the OWB up Sept 1. First time using and wanted to make sure things were going to run okay. So it's been running a month now, heating the water for the hot water tank and keeping the chill off the house.
Very happy with it, and hope to be able to tell the propane company in the spring what they can do with the big tank out there........

A morning fire is required today for maximum comfort. It takes the chill out of the house until the sun appears. Hit 38 F this morning, and the stove is working beutifully. Plenty of draft and warm, radiant air from good dry hardwood.

Can't beat it! :greenchainsaw:

had a fire for 4 years.-just braggin.:givebeer:

Did you come up from Florida? Sorry, I'm jealous, was suppose to get my SHAVER in July. Now, it's suppose to be sent on the 6 th. We'll see.

Hopefully you get your shaver soon. Are you doin the install yourself? I did mine including hand digging the trench. Overall it wasn't too bad.The only time my CB has been without a fire is when i clean it out and scrape the walls. Oh and for vacations i just let the fire die out.

My father in law and I fired up the home made burner out in the shop last night, just to take the chill off.
Man it felt good.

Those that fire their OWB's year around to get the benefit of DHW through the warm months...have you done any cost analysis of electric cost of running the pump vs other DHW supply cost?
Just curious...wife is a corporate controller and she come up w/ about a 10 dollar savings running the OWB vs the fuel oil boiler to heat the water. She just compared the cost of electricity running the pump vs oil consumed.
Just some food for thought.

I dont have a OWB, just wood stoves in the house and shop. Been firing the woodstove in the house this past week in the morning to take the chill off, keeps the wife happy.
Fired the shop stove for the first time this morning, burning up some poplar and pine for right now.

Me too, just taking the chill off for my old Mum who lives with us. Days like today (Rainy and windy) I'll fire up the cookstove for a bit, cook a stew or soup and a crusty bread and chill.

I built a fire the last 2 nights, inside wood/gas furnace it has been down in the 30's at night and they say 27 tonight. I stoke it up good in the evening and let it burn out, it stays warm in the house till morning. I guess its that time of year, but still a month or so away from burning 24/7. I hope.

Oct 1 cold and rainy high 30's and rain all the next day

started the woodstove with some nice dry dry maple

gotta love free heat

Yes, everything is about ready. Need to hook the OWB and electric. OH, and add wood. Might have to spark up the Jotul inside once or twice. The :censored: with the oil man!!! :buttkick:

I plan on DHW heated by oil in the summer. I've got an indirect hot water heater and it is awesome. I do need to set up the oil boiler for a cold start by changing the aqua-stat.

LT...

:givebeer: wife isnt here right now,but the kids are watching tv under the comforters...might be starting this weekend.
