Why is it that no one seems to be trying to modify the 026. I have only had one for a brief time and never tore it down thus I do not know what prohibits it from modification. Another question is hoe does the 346 compare to the 026.

Just my random thoughts in the middle of the night

well you see royb's 026, and that is just a woodsaw so i would say that the 026 takes well to porting.

against the 346 which is faster only time will tell but the 346 seems to really like 120 fuel so we will see

I know it's pretty mild as far as mods go, but I'm very impressed with my Walkerized 026. Its my main saw and it tears through just about anything I throw at it. When my 044 blew up I put a 25" bar on the 026 for a few days and it pulled it just fine.

Nope the stock 3120's that are ported woodsaws are and they donot even have a high speed jet to turn

Now ehp, This is impossible as you and I have been told. The saw would not run any where except in western NY.

Not true Stihltech, Husky just puts a more appropriate(boy, if that isn`t an oxymoron) fixed jet carb on the 3120.

The 260 that Dennis built for me ran well over 15K with the fixed jet, saw the Stihl tach hit almost 17k at one point. How well did that work out? I know that you can tweak the inlet lever and fatten them up but if you want to prove your smugness regarding that POS carb credible, bring a stock saw equiped with that carb to a get together for all to see. I`ll bring a stock 260 with a wt-426 on it and we can run them side by side. They aren`t the same.

BTW, Dennis swears that he ran my saw in BC and it ran perfect, and then ran it again in Washington where it also purportedly ran perfect. Why did it run like crap here in New York? Don`t blame the gas because it`s not the whole problem. I still have the carb and can put it back on easily enough to prove it.

I know that tunnig the carb from my house then heading down to a show is not always very good. The elevation drop from my hill a megar 2000 ft down to 500 or under does afftect my carb. Also it is usally warmer Hence the 3 ft of snow I still have with a 6 ft drift.
And Sthiltech said he would not come up the hill to after mud season.
But my work saws just run em they make new plugs every day. Ed's plug trick does seem to help. Besides I hear a plug never goes bad, just the operator does...

I used to swear that only a few hundred feet in elevation did not make a difference......I have since retracted that statement...there are a multitiude of factors including humidity, elevation...etc...of which I learned from one of our most esteemed members...KD

Russ' 260 ran great for us here, and at Rotax's place...Rotax did cuts with it and so did Gypo....then we ran Gypo's 357 I built....saw sucked...lol...literally....had a twist in the fuel line...couldn't grab fuel...got that worked out...lol

But when Russ got the saw over in NY...it raced for him...put the new carb on that I sent him...and it worked great....

all I have to add is that fixed jets suck...

I bought a new 024 Super over 18 years ago. I still use the darn thing only because my son hasn't finished up my 346 XPG. For the past 7 years its had an 026 piston and barrel on it. I don't know how it acts at different altitude but it always did hate temperature changes. If the temp changes 25 degrees you have to readjust the carb. I just learned to live with it and always carry
a screw driver with me.
Did anyone ever set a 346 and a 026 in the bed of your truck and drive more then 50 feet. It is a proven fact that Husky's fall over and Stihls sit up. LOL

I should add for clarification that my 260G runs great with the adjustable carb and it even ran great at one point with the non-adjustable carb. As far as I`m concerned, the problems with this saw were all in the carb.

Sthiltech,
No crap please I'm not at work. Besides this is the first day this week I wasn't shoveling **** or painting around those dam pipes between the digesters and over the 98 degree and noisy as a dozer dan saw heat exchanger.
With the my saws on funny fuel the tweeking needed at a show is very minimal. If you remeber last year we set the saw on a 80 degree day at my house. Then headed down to Bath a day later to a snow storm. 1/16 of a turn and I was off and running. Same thing at john this past time had to giver more fuel. But on the flip side the 044 with the WAY to big sprocket had the plug as black and gunked up as could be, and it was new. MMM a bit too much fuel. now it actualy turns over 11K.

The $75 you gave for that 036 was about $50 too much. The metal weight is worth more than that saw is.... Did you see copper went up again :)
