Why such long bars

i only ever cut hemlock to move them after our cottage was hit with a twister, it is 45 mins north of ehp's. i would just top them. its possible to have close to 4 ' of snow, which would really slow things down. in that rough country i would think cutting, limbing and skidding 24 trees would be a days work
