Thanks for the advice Manual :) I see that you changed your signature........LOL.......hope Thall did not have anything to do with it  I have respect for you cuz you helped me and I know you are a Husky, Jred man........Thanks buddy! >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Talon

I changed my sig because looks like that all time post is dead. I hope.
I like Jonsereds so huskys goes hand in hand
My jonny red was still on warranty when I modded the muffler.
Te dealer freaked out. Asked why I did that and I asked why is it going to break. The only thing that ever broke was the handle. thats because the tree twisted when doing the back cut and smashed my saw. My fault.

In my store, opening up the muffler will not void the warranty. Certainly not on the entire saw. Say for instance that the oil pump or the coil failed. It would be stupid to tell a customer that modding the muffler leaves him hanging for something like that, and I wouldn't do it.

However, if someone goes beyond a simple muffler mod and messes with the porting and such, then it will be a different story. Trying to stretch the performance limits of the saw and toasting the cylinder just isn't going to be warranty. If you pressure test the saw and there are no air leaks, the OEM's position is that the failure is due to over speeding/lean mixture. Besides, if the cylinder is recalled by the factory, the failure analysis likely wouldn't support a warranty claim.

Thats good of you, makes sense.

What would if A guy bought a saw and used it for milling then brought it back and said it was cracked.

Well then..................Congratulations on owning your 1st Stihl MS 361:blob2: :blob2: :blob2: :blob2: :blob2: :blob2: Looking forward to your full review on this saw once you get used to it :yoyo: Thall and others will have to find something else to give you **** on...........Hehehehe! >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Talon

You mod it, the warranty is void.. Manual is correct... generally...

Realistically, it depends. You toast the cylinder, it's pretty hard to claim if you mod the muffler. You have a bad oil pump, no problem...

Yea, Cut a cord of wood
It don't smoke at all. revs up fast, pops a little going down. has a rougher idle then I am use to.
You get a cord of wood per tank. wood chips fly more freely seems they don't all go out the back, seems some follow the chain around and fly out the frount of the cover.
gas and oil caps are going to take awhile to get use to. would have been better if all tabs were the same. just a learning curve. Anti vibe system makes me think of a accordine. but holds its own in a cut.

Also make me think of thall so I named it (little winky);)

you need my muffler mod... It will really come to life...

Yep, idle is a bit rougher , but its one of the prices to pay for a highly tuned saw!

Welcome to the inner sanctum... If you're good, you'll get the secret handshake...:taped:

Don't you worry I plan on using your mod . I have full access to the machine shop at work. I plan on making little winky scream when I pull the trigger.
Picked that saw up by trading my 029 super plus 150.00 cash.
also being a two year old saw. probably keeps my from knowing the hand shake. But I can get the decoder ring after buying ten more loops of sthil chain.

You thought of Thall and called it a little "twinkie"?.........LOL........I am quite sure he will be quite honored :jawdrop: Put a new chain on the new toy ?????......start her up............ and give us all a full review  Will you forget about your Husky's and Jred favorites for this saw ????????????????????? Kinda hard to compare without getting out into the woods with the new beast :greenchainsaw: Good Luck! >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Talon:chainsaw:

Where are the "limiter caps" ????? Can you show an image? Thanks Andy :rockn: >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Talon

Slice those limiter cap tabs off and put them back in... the richen the H, (and L a little) unless you like 15k!
what 15 k after the mod.
I checked the carb adjustment and it had the L all the way to the right bottom out on the limit tab. thought that was to lean so I up the idle and turned the L adjuster back.

Here's a pic of the caps on my 460. They're the two little round, red deals down in the recess. They look the same on the 361. The second pic is of my 361. The limiter caps are inside the little black, rubber seal just behind the handle bar wrap. There's tons of threads on how to remove and reinstall them. I recommend doing it right, with the Stihl limiter cap tool. About $5 from your dealer.

What Huskies do you have to compare to BTW?
Andy

Doesnt the Magnusson-Moss act place the burden of proof on the OEM that the part altered actually caused damage? IE the saw is covered as long as they can not prove the mod you made caused damage.

Ahh Andy I'm just a poor boy. I have ran the 357xp a friend of mine has one.
We did a tree job or two together. If there was a 357 for trade I would have done it. Just so happen this saw fell in my path at the right time.

BTW whats up with the green dots and how did you get three green dots.
I herd twos a snitch, whats three?
