So I have a problem. Started last yr towards ends of burning season and noticed the damper door gasket on my Harman tl300. Was falling out. So this yr about a month or so before I started burning I cleaned out the old gasket and cleaned the grove out very well and used new gasket glue and let it sit up a few wks before I burned in it. Now about 1 month after starting up the stove the gasket is falling out of place again any input ?

It has been a few years since I replaced mine, but I do remember having a similar problem. The second time I used a different glue than what came with the fiberglass rope. I don't remember the details in the directions but I know they were different than what I had done the first time. Seems like it needed to be damp and massaged into the rope, and then fired at a low temp almost immediately. Don't take my word for it though, find a tube of the good glue and read it for yourself.

Is there really a difference between the 2 or not really
i don't have a harmon but the first time i replaced mine on my baker woodstove i used stuff from my local hardware store and it barely lasted a year. i went to bakers and got the gasket they had for my stove and i'm on the 3rd year with that. i do remember cleaning out the groove with a wire wheel on my drill down to bare metal. good luck.
