In my area it seems like every operator has his own price, for his own measure, for his own product. There's a lot out there that sell small quantities, cut, split, and delivered. Some will even put it in the general location you want, while some just dump it somewhere in the general vicinity of your yard.
Years ago, I used a chainsaw to make a little money while going to school and prided myself on fair value, whether selling firewood, or taking trees out of Grampa's yard. A class-mate saw an opportunity to make money similarly, eventually stooping to pawning off green popple (aspen) in the twin Cities (Mpls/ST Paul, Mn) area as "green birch". At the time, I wished for a "firewood police" detail, because it is dorks like that are the ones that cause trouble for the honest folks.
About that same time I remember reading a story about the firewood demand on the east coast getting great enough that organized crime was taking notice, and muscling in on some of it.
