Well, I got to run the new belly bar yesterday with a few chains I got from woodsjunkie....................WOW! The chains took .4 sec off my times in the same wood. The belly bar as predicted by some did not measureably improve performance at this level, I don't care, IT LOOKS COOL and it doesn't HURT performance. I did some horsetrading for the chains and kept my end of the deal by delivering a log stand to Eric. AS it turns out there were a few other A/S members on hand and we had an impromptu get-together. I want to thank Eric and Sue for graciosly hosting the last minute affair. Also thanks to Larry (chainsaw-57) Steiner (sp?) for letting me run some of the coolest vintage saws ever made

Sometimes the look is everything. Reminds me of a guy that I used to shoot woodchucks with. He had a Remington 700 Varmint Special, 25-06, Harris bipod, Leupold 6.5-20x scope with sunshade that looked pretty slick. Drew alot of comments from the locals when we`d head south to the bigger farms of the southern tier to shoot chucks but it didn`t make a darn bit of difference in his inability to shoot past 300 yards. He sure was happy to be seen with it though.

I have shot many chucks, cats, and coyotes with a sako 25-06 using hot handloads and 87 gr Siearas BT's. Dadly combo, but a bit much for shooting praire dogs all day.

What size of wood and what kind of chains were they .4 seconds faster than?
I wonder where the belly bars show their stuuf? Long bars?

After reviewing the times, the race chain is SIX tenths faster than stock 72LG, which by the way is the chassis that the race chain is built on. 8x8 cants of ? (what was that stuff again Eric?)

20" bar stock chain 2.62 sec
20" bar race chain 2.02 sec
belly bar race chain 2.06 sec

I dont think a handheld stopwatch is accurate enough to quibble over the "hundredths"

Paul,
The wood was sycamore and it is Hard...Remember what the one knot did to my chain?
I like to cut in the harder stuff my self it shows the real power of you saw.
That is one cool bar you have even if you don't need it.
Thanks again for the log stand It is a true master peace.
Hopefully it will help me get my cold starts better lord knows I need it...
Know all I need is some fast stock appearing saws in the 3 ci. range and a quick smurff saw LOL.
