I currently have a vc defiant that ive had for 16 years it is a 2000. It was overfired last winter and it needs rebuild inside....parts are about$850.....
I was thinking of buying a drolet 2200 for about 1100.....instead of fixing defiant. I love that defiant though....any suggestions?

That price doesn't sound bad and Drolet seems to make a pretty solid stove from what I've read on other forums. I'd go for it as long as you've narrowed down your search and are satisfied;)

I take it you are looking for an insert? Osburn 2200? as under the Drolet name there is no 2200 there is the ht2000 free standing stove. The corporate co that owns the Drolet name makes several different brand name wood fired appliances. I didn't find a 2200 on the Drolet site

I own the Drolet HT200 and its a great stove and works well. can hold a lot of wood for long burns. Super built and easy to find and get parts. It's a secondary burn technology stove and heats our whole 2400 sq foot home.

HT2000 little more omphf than the NC30 and a slightly larger firebox as well When I got my 30 the HT2000 wasn't available or it was the price point I could get on the 30 , can't remember. at anyrate it has been serving its purpose well enough for me in a 2k ranch.

Good luck! Its a nice looking stove, looks to be worth the investment.

I rebuilt a VC Resolute littler over 2 years ago. Facing another costly rebuild this year we decided to replace it.

Inside the box....getting ready to install new refractory. ....i installed the secondary air probe....i probably should remove that....install refractory and upper firebox....then drill through refractory to line up air probe

My father inlaw rebuilt his 1975 Model defiance and has 4 or 5 years on it. And his way of cleaning the chimney is to get the stove nice and hot and burn it out... I got my 1975 defiance last year and it is probably due for a rebuild but it still keeps me nice and warm. Won't ever get a different stove.

Well sadly when loading up the stove I found a quarter size hole in the fireback. Can't complain for a 40 year old stove. Gusse I to have a rebuild coming up next spring... patch it for the winter.

I had one,of the old defiants. It was a monster heater but hard to modulate due to air leaks. What usually causes the firebacks to warp in those stoves is ash buildup between the fireback and the back of the stove. The ash buildup doesn't allow the fireback to cool and the combination of that and leaky joints is a stove killer. I did like the old stove but I'm glad I replaced it with the Englander.
