My shed where I spend most of my evenings. And yes, those training pads work great as a work mat.
I like the training pad idea get dirty during teardown replace when installing new parts I'm gonna try that!

These are a work in progress. They are all metal base cabinets set on casters so I can move them around easily for cleaning, moving, etc. I'm eventually going to paint them up nice, and add new pulls. Then I'll cover the tops with some metal plate for easy cleaning and to allow me to stick my magnetic parts trays to them.

These are in my shop. The one with the grinders is pretty handy, despite not a lot of room it is on rollers so I can move it where I want it and I use it mostly for cleaning saws.
The bigger bench was made with 2x4 basics
kit and it actually is quite sturdy. More than I would have expected. With the kit you have the option of making it any size you want up to 4' x 8'.

This is my main bench. It is very heavy. It is steel I-beams and channel. I put the ash top on it a couple years ago. The wood came off the farm.

This is where I do my mechanical work

This is my happy place.

What are you using to power that cylinder?

I've been wanting a lift in my shop but can't come to spending the money for a air powered lift.

The lift is air over oil. I use a 5hp air compressor. The lift came out of a garage in the 80's. I gave $500 for it. I think in ground lifts are superior to above ground. I have put many hydraulic cylinders in the ground from my elevator mechanican days. This is the shortest cylinder I ever installed.
