Any chance of this Jonsered 630 cylinder recovering from whatever projectile it was that brought proceedings to a halt?

Will never see more than a few days of work a year; thinking of gluing some 240 grit sandpaper to the top of an old piston, bringing down the high spots on the combustion chamber and putting in a new piston.

No scratches that catch a fingernail.

Got this in a box of parts, no idea what happened to get it to look like this...

I would suggest replacement. One tiny bit of embedded fragmentation will ruin your new parts installed.
Would also suggest a new wrist pin and bearing. Look real close at the rod big end bearing and cage for debris and cracks before you spend any time on it. Of course heavy fragments will make it down through transfers so a good inspect in order.
Finally if you want a used P&C after this just PM me. Thx TLG

Thanks people; TLG embedded debris was something I had overlooked...The saw that it would go on I think had a run-in with some straight gas, its piston looks a bit beyond reclamation wouldn't you say? Haven't had a whack at cleaning the cylinder yet, but for sure have some of this piston all over the wall.
