the peak was toclaraju in the ishinca valley. our origional objective was artesonraju, but for the dry season they were getting too much snow. no one summitted arteson... all season, at least not before or while we were there. so we then thought about the direct route on toclaraju. but the altitude was really kicking our butt's so we took the ridge route. i would really need at least a month over there to climb at any technical ability at altitude. only about 6 people summitted toclaraju before us this year. 6 people saw the summit the day i was there. we caught a good window for the weather.
