There are several thieves around here who get free firewood from my wood pile. They think nothing of it. I believe I need a good German Shepherd, backed up by a Rottweiler or a Doberman.
Try a Bernese mountain dog big as a St Bernard but the aggression if required of a Tiger they are Black,Tan, & White & look like a "Newfie" the female I have weighs in at 80 odd Kilo"s & last year was the first dog including police "sniffer"s" involved to lead searchers to the whereabouts of a missing child that had wandered off in to the "Grotto's"caves in our area.& with kids she's as "Daft as a brush" but would defend them to her death if they were mistreated by an adult

Dude..get a game camera. I'd think you'd like to be able to recognize the truck that's been trespassing on your property and stealing from you.

Cameras work great as long as the thief doesn't see the camera and smash it, or steal the memory card. Some of the cameras will take pictures and send them immediately to your phone, then you just call the police. There was a thread on one of these forums a few years ago. The man got the pictures, called the police, the police showed up and busted the thieves, the owner got pictures of everything including the arrest.

Or if he stole a split that had a hole drilled and filled with black powder and plugged up so you can't see it. not yer fault his stove blew up.
Don't even need to actually install the explosives...just a sign posted up "One of these splits has a grenade in it...wanna help me find it?"
Of course my luck would be to come back and find somebody had crossed out the "One" on my sign, then scribbled in a "Two"... o_O :crazy2:

The owner of the property tried a camera last year and that is exactly what happened. The camera was ripped off the wall and crushed by the thief, late at night. The thief had cased the place and knew exactly where the camera was and how to destroy it without being detected. Thieves aren't dopes.

I also agree that an Alaskan Malamute, strong as it is, was never bred to guard anything. A retriever is actually a better guard dog than a Mal.
