I came across an XL-1 with a really strange anti-vibe (A/V) setup on it. I heard of them before but have never seen one. Are these saws rare with the A/V? Its got the red and white color scheme. There is no "UT" in the model # so I know it's pre-Textron.

Homelite made several different AV saws in the early '70s. Most of them started off with "VI" (ie: VI-955 was an SXL-925) and had compression releases. I think of it as sort of a half-assed attempt to make a "comfort" saw to match the Stihls and Jonsereds that were pouring in with these features.

I have a VI-123 with an AV system that looks a little 49SP-ish. They're rare as far as numbers, but not really in demand.

Are you sure about the UT number thing? I've had a few Textron saws with no UT.

Textron owned Homelite from the mid-'50's until a couple of years ago when JD bought 'em. Now JD has sold them, and I'm not certain if they will ever surface again....

Hello, I think the XL-1 is the Canadian version of the Super Mini, which is a Super EZ with a Half-assed A/V system like John mentioned. I have one, but the A/V system is broken in a few places. Jonathan

IMHO...The XL-1 is the Canadian version of the XL Mini Automatic (no manual oiler smaller than the Super EZ 2.3 cu in vs. 2.5 cu in) is my guess from looking at the one I recently bought...
Do you know which US HOMELITE is the closest to the Super
XL-130?

Thanks guys. When I first picked this thing up I thought it might be a 118 or a 123, But I thought it was weird that it said XL-1 on the covers. I'll have to double check on the model from the tag.
