Yard Mosquito Treatment - Does it work?

I recently saw some advice on a (now removed, unfortunately) utube video on doing whole yard mosquito repellent treatment with a garlic-based stink material.
I don't consider myself a soldier at war, but my fight against the mosquitos calls this into question. That said, I'm not interested in violating the geneva conventions or doing irreperable harm to the surrounding environment through chemical warfare. Biological agents are already on the table.

Do mosquito treatments like this work? I'm thinking of getting an SR200 backpack sprayer and the aforementioned garlic stink and going to town on the yard. It's my understanding, I can still eat the foods I spray with this, and the squirrels and frogs will still be happy... but mainly I'm interested if this even works, or if its a pipe dream.

I wage chemical warfare in my own yard and it works great. I also wage chemical warfare for a few buddies in town (I have all proper applicator’s licenses) and one wanted to do the all natural application. It was a great test as I was spraying for two neighbors at the same time. I did garlic and something else for one and the chemical stuff for the other. Guess where all the mosquitoes were ? I’m not sure what attracts mosquitoes but garlic sure didn’t repel them. I sprayed my chemical mix the next time at both places and they were once again banished to the other neighbors houses.

Not saying it can’t/won’t/doesn’t work but it didn’t seem to in this case.
