If this is in the wrong area please let me know and ill shuffle off! or feel free to move it if you so wish, admin.

Ok, trundling round the tip yesterday looking for lead to finish flashing the roof i came by a nice big saw. as the photos show, its says its an Echo Mobilco. it also says 750EVL but im beginning to doubt this as although the handle cover fits perfectly, the 3 screw holes dont line up with anything. any ideas? two ideas so far, its a random (ish) handle cover tacked on, poorly. or, there should be some kind of fixing plate beneath the cover to screw to. perhaps the photos will explain....

saw has really good, but as yet, untested compression, looks to be in good but filthy condition bar a few poorly done repairs, with tek screws!!!

see what you think. i hope it will be my occasional use saw over my 61 that im (slowly) souping up!!!

not sure if the photos have loaded properly, im sure you'll let me know if not!!

ta in advance for any assistance offered! i need to identify it to possibly replace a few bits, maybe it was at the tip because it gave up the ghost, maybe i got lucky! heres hoping!!! any thoughts/ideas/advise welcome!

Echo 750 EVL ID

also, can anybody recomend the correct fuel/oil ratio, i think i saw 20/1 mentioned, is this correct?
also, what size/type/pitch bar/chain combo suits best?
expected compression reading?
any quirks to look out for?

Looks like the 750 EVL I picked up yesterday. Mine is pulling 165 pounds of compression, in case you didn't notice there is a decompression release lever on the right side. Run any good 2 cycle oil at 40:1 and you will be fine.

bar/chain combo recomendations......

well, piss poor weather has me off the roof for now (im a #### brickie anyway and the water feature in the fireplace is kinda nice!) and thinking about saws again. sturdy red wine and ebay, hmmmmm. best quote locally for a bar n loop was $145 for my 61 at 20" and standard chain but the fleabay seems to have gb, bylink, oregon and carlton for $50 - $95, anyone want to recomend combos for the huski 61 and echo 750 EVL? maybe 18-20" and 22-24" respectively? or even a size down on both, power not size needed from these saws. ta!

sweet!

nice one fella! ill see you in there. need some advise on splitting karri, im sure that'll get some fun comments! ill defo give yer man a shout. ta muchly! where in the world are ya, be good to have a local i can pick the brains of occasionally!

I'm on the other side of this big island so sweet bugger all experience with Karri.

BobL is the man you need to talk to but I think he mostly hangs in the milling forum these days, he's from Perth or thereabouts.
Very smart man is our Bob.

bobl

ah, the inventor/creator of all manner of wizardry! saw some fancy canthooks he knocked up. ill give him a shout. too much good firewood to pass up but fekkin hard to split! cant noodle it all!!! the last bit i split with a maul broke apart after a dozen swings with a huge 'tongue' sticking out of the small bit and the corresponding 'groove' left in the other!!! bloody odd stuff!!!

####ing karri

literally bounces, hardly a dent left. fekkin stuff. burns ok tho if you can process it. useless for anthing else i say, ants LOVE it. and it splinters horribly if it breaks, not that it does. bobl used it for his handles actually i believe.

the yellow box you speak of, does it come from the uk? not really a tree, more a big bushy shrub type thing? if it is its awesome for turning, love it!!!
