So the SP60 I have been working on seems to have that 'borderline' level of compression where sometimes it'll run, but more often not. It may be just a simple matter of swapping out the DSP valve, or more involved like a re-ring. In either case, the parts aren't on the shelf, so the saw temporarily is and I started in on this 'special' SP60.
The features I've been able to identify as being part of the 'Cold Weather Package' are: Rubber handle grip, special AF cover w/enclosed ducting, muffler shroud, and the front hand guard.
Here's a shot of the duct and the interior control flap:
Notice how the muffler is installed; the exhaust points up. When the duct is set up for warm weather (closed), it draws intake air that first travels across the top of the cylinder. When configured for warmer weather, the (closed) duct allows exhaust to travel upwards. Hopefully, some of our forum experts can shed some more light on this.
