You can't escape yourself
Here is probably the best $50 I ever spent, well that jumbo box of condoms was useful that week in Seattle, but I digress. Picked it up this morning, a 1983 Jonsered 630V (heated handle option). Overall in pretty good shape, the previous owner did some welding on the muffler for some reason and 2 cuts in the top cover. Lots of compression and came with an 18" powermatch bar. And it has some weird gas caps, anyone ever see these before?

Must be a different saw, South Berwick Maine is a LONG ways from Oregon. :cheers:

ya those gas caps weren't the best you can strip the inside out pretty easy i had them on my 630 and 670 but just went and got the newer caps instead

yeah

:dizzy: There is one for sale local for $50 an 2186 supposedly runs looks somewhat clean it has a 20'' bar. I better try calling again. anyhow can there be more than one deal like that?

They do look kind of flimsy around the threads. Might have to change them out, I question how well they seal anyways.

If there is another deal, I hope you get it. A cheap 2186 would be amazing. :clap:

Congrats - looks good! :clap::clap:

He shoots, he scores!

Great deal there. Heated grips on a 630 is pretty rare. Do they work?

My early 630, (1985), also had those odd caps. They don't afford a very good grip, and they both leaked, so I replaced them with the new style.

I have a muffler if you need one. The early ones used the lower profile muffler, which you can't get anymore. The new style will fit on the cylinder, but it will be in contact with the early top cover and likely melt it.

a question from someone in the knowing.... I've yet to find one Husky with handle heating still working. I had a 242xpw, a 268xpw, maybe some others, and none was working. I don't like the wiring set up either...all elements are serial and when one goes, nothing works.... sure would be a handy option in cold winters though.
