Hello,

I'm looking to make 2 chainsaw scabbard/holders to mount on the rear of my atv, one for a 18" bar and one for a 24". Ones where the saw is vertical. I recall seeing a cool one on the side of a kubota made out of plastic, but couldn't find it. Wood will also do, looking for other easy to do ideas. I'd like to cover the bar completely so dirt and mud doesen't end up caked in my chain. Please show some pics w/ basic how to.

I did a search and only found like one. Still learning my way around here!
thanks.....

It doesn't show up too good, but on the side of my 3 pt winch is one I made out of 2 pieces of 1/2" plywood, spaced with 1/2" strips. On the front of the tractor is another one thats vertical. I can get some better pics tomorrow if you want -

gunar, here you go -

Both are open on the end, the one on the winch a 28" bar will slip right on through.

The one on the tractor is limited to 20" They work fine, haven't had one fall out yet.

Gunnar, you need between 5/16" and 3/8" for the scabbard slot, depending on the chain. I usually rip hardwood strips from 3/4" stock and then glue them the right distance apart. Seems like you need one backer board to hold both saws, four strips and then either two outer plates or a single the same size as the backer board.

Space the strips far enough apart so the saws are an inch or so apart, glue and screw them all together, mount the assembly to the ATV, and you're home free. With a table saw at your command, you could do it all in a day.
