I just picked up a mini jolly from craigs list for $25.00. Seems like a decent little unit for the price and should be plenty to touch up or repair chains that hit rocks or nails. I have no clue about the brand, model or quality - I just thought, how can I go wrong for $25.00.

Anyone have this unit? Any input or advice beyond throw it in a lake? I am just a fire wood cutter for personal use so I cannot justify a big dollar machine.

I have one, and for just firewood cutting, it works great. Not powerful, but MUCH better than hand filing! Took me a while to learn that you have to dress the grinding wheel from time to time. Check the internet for much better prices on grinding wheels.

Tecomec makes grinder for Oregon, and also sells them under a few different names. If you go to the Bailey's website you will see the grinders, wheels, etc.

Not as powerful as the larger grinders. Good deal at $25.

This is it - it looks like the Oregon Mini but older. Solid little unit with an all steel frame. I think it should meet my needs considering the price.

Thanks for the info

Tecomec/tacomec?? I like tacos :) Hell I didn't even know what brand it was when I bought it. I ask the seller if he would ship it to me if I mailed him a check. I only found out the brand when it arrived.

I have (er, . . . a couple of . . .) full-sized grinders, but I would be happy to find a small, good quality one like that at a garage sale, at that price. Whatever it is called.

Looks like it could use something keep the wheel spray
off the depth screw.
makes things a bear to turn and hard on the threads in the body
also packs under it (on the touch point) and interferes with accuracy
looks like a nice score all the same!

I will fab up a little guard for the depth screw and a safety shield for the wheel itself. I am sure a handle from one of my grinders will work too. It has a small crack on the motor houseing - hense, the duct tape but at 25 clams I think with new wheels and a little tweeking this will be a great addition for me.

Thanks for all the help.

Resembles my Harbor Freight grinder. Beats the heck out of hand filing. When it gets dirty, I wash him in the laundry tub with Simple Green. Keeping the motor high and dry of course.

Stainless wire 'tooth' brush will clear off the depth screw threads.
