Hi:

Like the others said, you want an oil thats designed for higher temps and states OK for air cooled 2 strokes. There are ash free and low ash oils that are made for air cooled , unlike the old days were ash free was only for water cooled. Ash free modern oils give less deposits. I like this one - actually removes old varnish from the inside of the engine and is great for engines that may sit for long periods (rust control).

Mystik Store - Mystik® JT-4® Ultimate High Performance 2-Cycle Engine Oil - Product Details

(Also includes a fuel stabilizer)

Can use in any 2 stroke- snowmobile to weed wacker.

The mystic sea and snow would work even better. It has the same jaso iso ratings as most saws:buttkick:

Never heard of Mystic oils until today, but why would you use the snowmobile oil when they have a lawn and garden 2 cycle oil? Snowmobile oils normally quit thin to allow for proper mixing/flow in extreme cold. Nevertheless sticking with known brands is your best bet. Stihl ultra, Belray H1R, Maxima K2, Motul 800 2T, and Klotz R50, Elf-which is made buy Total.

the mix of 32/1

Why would adding 1 ounce of Seafoam change your fuel mixture?

I put a gallon of gas, whatever stabilizer I using (either 1 oz Seafoam or 1/2 oz Lucas), and 4 ounces of oil for a 32:1 ratio. Never had any issues.....

I've used 4 oz to the gallon for many years. My older Stihl (bought in '87) is still running. also add some Seafoam on the top of the can.

I tried alco semi syn 2 stroke a while ago and still use it. Has the jaso fd and iso egd ratings and works well. Plus I get it at a little remote gen store/gas station pretty reasonable.

I just helped a senior with a bunch of wood over the weekend and ran out of fuel. So I reluctantly used his prem. with lucas 2 cycle at 45:1 I was impressed. He buys it in qts. for about $8 has all the ratings too.

Who cares what name is on it as long as it's made for "air cooled engines, full synthetic, fullfill's minimum following standard Jaso FD, API TC, ISO-L-EGD". If that is ok your good to go. If you prefer semi synthetic Jaso FC, ISO-L-EGC then go for it. I always think oil is cheap in the long run. I just got a 4 litre(~1.05 gallon) jug, with the top specification, on sale so that should be sufficient for the next few years.

You want a TC oil, NOT a TC-W oil! The W stands for water cooled. The lower temps of a watercooled engine, (outboard, L/C snowmobile, L/C bike/quad) don't burn off the additives in a TC-W oil, but the hotter air cooled two-cycles will.
I use stihl oil because that's what stihl uses at the factory for all their testing and I'm assuming they design them not to have any oil related failures with their own oil.

I recommend that you use a full-synthetic oil. Stihl Ultra is usually easy to find and is a very good choice. Baileys full-synthetic is another very good and affordable option.

I order the full synthetic Bailey's 2.5gal mixes Brad mentioned. Stihl HP Ultra is good oil and a full synthetic like the Bailey's woodland pro, but is almost twice the price around central IA. Last i knew woodland pro 2.5gal mixes were on sale for $10/ 6pak. I mix my oil a little rich (45:1) and use in all my saws. Bailey's is just convient and cheap for me since I order parts from them anyhow...

I don't really think it matters what 2cycle mix you use as long as you don't use the cheapest conventional oil... Just make sure the bottle says "semi-synthetic", "synthetic", or "full synthetic" on the bottle. Synethetic oils will help wear and tear on the saw and make it last longer. nough said...

Some of those L/C snowmobile, L/C bike/quad oils are tc jaso fd and iso egd not tcw

If you want to buy by the quart..as I do..Amsoil Saber..full synthetic is ~ $10.50 a quart

Half of what Stihl charges for their full-syn Ultra...and largest bottle...if you can find it... is 10+ oz.

Works perfect at 50:1 - some use at 70:1 - dealer says he uses at 100:1..!!
