OK so it runs.. . ... ... but...

The throttle won't return and the idle screw is snapped off. I pulled it apart thinking the linkage wasn't on right. Omg what have I done. Well anyway got it all back together n dang those strange little tubes on the coil. It still does it. So I need to tweak that throttle rod somewhere

But runs and oils and will actually clean up real nice and I also desperately need a top handle.

Also what's this hole for?

I hope I will live through this ordeal I have stupidly volunteered for

I will say its barky and quite light. Well not that I've fondled many top handles. Or looked up their dress. Are all top handles weird?

The Power Mac 6 are really great little saws. The Walbro MDC carburetors can be a problem, I think they must have used some very poor quality aluminum for them. Do yourself a favor and plan on replacing the high speed check valve, they are almost aways shot.

If the fuel fitting leaks at the carburetor you can try adding a couple of 009 o-rings.



That mysterious hole has been discussed before, and it not included on all of the various edition of the Power Mac 6.

Ahhh I see. It seemed to run OK using a screw driver to back the throttle off. What will a dicky hi speed check valve show up as?

When the HS check valve is shot the saw will flood at idle but runs fine at full speed.

Ahh righto funny thing is I gave it a tweak on the low n then had a lean bog and then I couldn't restart it from flooding. So probably is shot. Still need to sus throttle out. I suspect that is going to be a painful hopefully not 15 times job

In my humble opinion, they are better by several orders of magnitude. I feel that McCulloch got it right with the Power Mac 6, but cheaped out on their subsequent small saws.

quite a few years ago I was talking to Roger, the owner of Twin City Saw about selling McCullochs. His opinion was that as a dealer the power Mac 6 was the best saw for him to sell in the line, powerful for the size, well positioned in the market, useful for both pro’s in a bucket or climbing and for homeowners, not too expensive, and he sold a ton on them.

Exactly why I was after one. Have had many mini Mac's and givin them all away. None were living

Do you need to pull the whole thing apart to get to the carb? Starter?

I wonder the same thing.... I thought a PM6 had the same engine as a MM35.

Well the odd thing is the carb has a mount on it for the coil. The coil bolts/screws sandwich the carb on 1 side. The starter is just a few screws and the fuel tank is part of the starter and has a little nipple that goes into the carb. Rather simple really

That carb / coil mounting you described is exactly the same on a Mini Mac. I bet it's the exact same engine (don't tell Mark I said that....)
