DN tested the 357 and 361 together
Guess some had missed this test between the DN Husky 357 and the Stihl 361.
Comparison Husq 357 vs Stihl 361
(I have 2 new saws that I am going to work on and I thought it would be interesting to do a little comparing before I started. Both saws are new and each one has had about 6 tanks of fuel run through them, the same length bar and chain was used on both saws 16" s/nose with the same chain, Stihl 3/8 chisel new out of the box [ never filed nor were the rakers touched ]. The saws were adjusted for peak performance in this wood.
The wood I used was 10.5 in diameter rock maple cut 2hrs earlier, there were no knots and I will say that it was extremely hard. My wife Karen did the timing, she has timed hundreds of race contests so she knows what she is doing. She also could care less which saws works best.
I made 3 warm-up cuts with each saw and then made 3 seperate cuts that were timed, we then averaged the times and this is what we found.
Stihl averaged 7.42 sec.
Husq averaged 6.65 sec.
I found both saws to run good and smooth and with anything you will find somethings that you like and some you don't. I hope you find this interesting and helpful.)
Now if we only new how they ran after the mods. Any test out there Big Dave that you did after those mods?
